The 80’s are making a comeback… again. This time with the power of the Aikatsu System! This brand is heavily inspired by 80’s fashion. From what we know from mainstream media to old magazines and ads. It’s a pop type brand, with no known users.

All model bases were made by Mocha-Addict The 8 bit and Pixel Party coords were inspired by the rise of technology in the 80’s. Apple’s famous 1984 commercial was shown and the first Super Mario Brothers game was released on the NES in 1985. Admittedly the Hangout and Nightlife coords were inspired by the youtuber Pixielocks. I think she’s a mix of Decora and Fairy kei but at the same time it brings out more of that retro aesthetic. And finally, the Colorful and Pastel Block coords were inspred by the more geometric patterns that were going on during this time. The headband and ugly sweater really scream ugly 80’s right? Funny enough the Colorful Block coord reminds me of the brick blocks and / or metal platforms in Super mario and Donkey Kong. 

The inspiration behind the Business and Working Girl Coords are based in 80’s woman’s work clothes and shoulder pads. The hat’s insperation actually came from Jerica’s hat from Jem and the Holograms. The Boyish and Tomboy Retro coords were inspired by how teens used to wear men’s blouses with their outfits. I personally would wear this one. And the very elephant in the room; the Glam Punk and Glam Rock Coords. While doing some research I found out that the goth subculture started in the 80’s. There even were some Glam rock goths during this era like; David Bowie and Siouxsie and the Banshees. And of course the Tim Burton classic; Beetlejuice came out in 1988. Radical Trends may be a pop brand, but I want to cover each and every part of the 80’s as I can!

3 words; Pretty Pretty Princess. The inspiration comes from 80’s prom dresses, however the game Pretty Pretty Princess was initially created in 1989 and was released by Hasbro a year later. As for the wings; I tried to imitate those weird 80’s carpet patterns, with the shapes and the lines.
