Today was a much busier day than you were typically used to.
For one, a festival was in the process of filling out your city, and it made the once spacious place feel as if it were suddenly cramped. The streets were packed with people who didn’t know where to walk, let alone go, making even getting out of your apartment more of a challenge than it had to be. You ended up brushing shoulders with far more strangers than you were comfortable with before you even reached the bus station.
From then on, things became worse. So. Much. Worse. The interior filled too quickly, and all of a sudden, the concept of personal space was nonexistent. People stood close, with hardly any space between them. It felt slow in getting back, too, but that was from the burnout you must have been feeling.
Usually, you liked living in the capital. Most days, it just felt lively and vibrant, even comforting to an extent. This, on the other hand, just felt suffocating, which led to you missing home more than usual. You found yourself practically running back, just needing to retreat to a space where you knew you could breathe, but Midnight had other ideas.
As you stepped inside and shut the door behind you, kicking off your shoes like usual, something in the air had shifted. You walked maybe about half a meter down the hall before he appeared right in front of you. By the way he carried his posture, you could tell that something tense was eating him up from the inside. The way his attention was fixed on you made your home feel a little like it was outside; smaller, with too much pressure to handle. It only hit you a moment later that he was upset about something.
It was sometimes easy to forget that this creature before you was a demon, technically speaking. Most of the time, he was this soft-mannered being who was nothing but patient and kind with you. He spoke quietly and spent time at your side, rarely raising his voice even if something bothered him.
This was different.
“Who were you with?” he asked outright, his voice calm, albeit with an underlying edge to it.
Before you could even think to answer, his hands settled around your shoulders, lifting you from the floor with terrifying ease. Your feet dangled from the height he held you at.
You could only blink up at him.
You also forgot about his size, sometimes. People—and you supposed in his case, demons—seemed much closer to being approachable when they were being kind. For the most part, you had come to see him as almost human, but even that much was challenged right now. This was a monster, and you understood that perfectly well.
Still, you tried to reason with him.
“It was a busy day,” you revealed after a moment. “The whole city was packed with people.”
He adjusted his grip ever so slightly, hinting that he was listening.
“It wasn’t intentional, I promise,” you continued, remembering how he tended to deal with scent and the way it clung to you, “but I have been pushed up against a lot of people without being able to control it,” you added, extending a cautious hand to brush along his cheek. His flesh felt warm to the touch. “You know better than anyone that I would never be unfaithful.”
While that seemed to calm him down a little—enough to loosen his hold on you from something tight to something soft—he did not set you down just yet. He stayed there, looking at you as if internally thinking something over:
Midnight could be gentle again just as quickly if he allowed himself, but otherwise, the conditions had to be right. For the time being, he could not revert to how he was because his jealousy crept to a point that was difficult to ignore. This meant that this wasn’t something he could freely control, even if he were to really try; it was partially instinctual because being a demon meant that some things came naturally to him, and sometimes, he had to go against the grain of what felt right just to keep himself steady.
When he spoke again, his voice sounded more strained, forced even. “Right. You weren’t out with anyone else. You wouldn’t do that to me.”
“Of course not,” you quickly confirmed.
That seemed to reach him even more so than before. His shoulders loosened and some tension drained from his tight posture, but not all of it. He reacted differently to what followed after, listening to his feelings rather than surrendering to logic. He leaned forward, ever so slightly, resting his forehead against yours, but as he slacked, his horns pierced the stone wall behind you.
You blinked in surprise at the unexpected strength, noticeably stiffening up. Thankfully, your apartment faced nobody on that side apart from the stairwell, so nobody was around to hear, let alone witness that. You were thankful for that, because you, as it was understood, were the only one to be able to see Midnight.
He, too, stiffened at what he had accomplished, or rather, caused. He straightened up on a whim, trying desperately to adjust and amend what he was on the verge of succumbing to. Again, though, it wasn’t exactly his fault with how he was reacting. Incubi and succubi were just naturally possessive in that right, especially since the humans they were bonded to were a decision made by fate, which meant that he loved you completely. This, of course, did mean that even something small like you coming home with the scent of other people on you was enough to set him off dangerously.
He tried one last-ditch effort to save himself and you.
“Will you be willing to bathe?” he asked.
You shrugged slightly, not opposed to the idea. “Will it help calm you down?” you asked.
Midnight hesitated, seeming to struggle with the answer, but after a second, he forced a small nod.
You advanced towards the bathroom as soon as he put you back on your feet, following after you like a shadow. He watched intently as you stripped off the clothes you were wearing and made a discreet effort to snatch them and dispose of them, hopeful to discard the unwelcome scent. His eyes wandered over your nude form as he took in the sight of you, never once growing bored with how you looked. Each time, he thought it was the most special thing to witness, being just as obsessed with you as the night he entered your life.
You climbed into the little tub tucked away in the corner, shuddering as the water heavily poured in. You briefly considered waiting for the hot water to gather first, but if he was acting this way with your smell, then perhaps the humidity would worsen the scent if you were to stand and wait otherwise. To your suspicion, getting straight into the water seemed to calm him down the most, even if slightly.
He approached you as you settled into the bath, taking hold of the sponge that lay on the edge, adding far too much soap than was necessary. He made it into a point of cleansing you himself, harshly, in a way that rubbed your skin raw, to remove anything stubborn of you that still insistently clung. He did not skip a single spot of you, though, when you headed out of the tub, he found himself heating up for a different reason that time.
A breathless sound left his lips, and he tried to stop himself, but he only made matters worse the more he tried to suppress himself. He found himself grabbing onto you by the wrist and dragging you back into the bedroom while you were still dripping and naked, uncaring of where it all landed. You found yourself, mundanely, almost, thinking quite the opposite. Your mind drifted to whether your landlord would be forgiving of slight water damage on the deposit, but then, you were pulled out of such thoughts—
“Please,” he almost begged, desperate for your position. He wanted so badly to make you smell like you should; of him.
It didn’t take much to convince you.
Your arrangement with Midnight was never forced.
Besides, a night with him meant guaranteed good sleep, and goodness, did you need it.
You opened your lips, just about managing a single word. “Yes—”
Only for him to already move forward, keen on sating the jealousy that threatened to otherwise consume him. He pushed you towards the bed, making you land face down over the mattress. His hand splayed over your back, keeping you grounded to the mattress, not quite choking you as he kept you still, but forcing you to sink far deeper than you could handle with a bed this firm.
Then, he settled in behind you, his arousal already evident and poking at your behind. He lifted you ever so slightly by the hips, his fingers curled around your lower waist, wasting no time in guiding his length inside. Your sex swallowed him up with ease; your own body already slick with anticipation.
When Midnight finally pushed inside, some of the jealousy seemed to subside, as if being in you was relieving enough, but it was still only just. He was quick to start moving, coming to rest his hands palm side down, either side of your body, beginning to saw into you with increasing fervour. He grunted each time he hit your most inner core, feeling your cunt bruise from his size, and you were unable to resist a whining, keening moan from the delicious pain that came with it. You were almost delirious from the sensation, feeling his cock kiss you from within over and over, finding that you had to bite the mattress to keep what was left of your composure.
Your hands clamped around the edge of the bed, otherwise, squeezing hard down against the sheets as your nails threatened to rip through the fabric. Your hips rolled up, and you tried to meet him with his thrusts, and Midnight, to his credit, reacted just as you wished he would. He lowered himself further, blanketing you over with his body, rutting you with the intention to reclaim what he briefly feared was lost.
But then he pulled back ever so slightly, moving to flip you over as the jealousy kicked in stronger than before. He now wanted to look down at you, keeping his expression barely composed with his pupilless, glowing eyes that seemed to bore into your very soul. He pounded into you from above, gradually folding your body in half, and quickly, his neediness grew into less of a want, not even a need, but a full, flat-out ache.
Midnight, with you, always failed to last too long, though, no matter how he tried and despite your reassurance. His thrusts quickly grew erratic the more he lost himself to it, and he kept on nearly slipping, losing his balance. He bucked wildly now, like the beast he was, dangerously close to reaching completion.
You, too, in contrast, felt somewhat the same. You held onto him tightly; your arms hugging around his back as he took the pace from something steady to deeply desperate. Your legs wrapped tight around him, your face digging into the crook of his neck as your own climax approached. Your pussy clenched rhythmically, almost, as the creeping urge to come undone approached, a warm sensation that coiled from within your core that demanded relief—gathering and rising—almost crying for its end—
Only for him to do so first, resulting in a loud and hungry moan that almost shook the foundations of the entire block as he filled you up to the brim. You, too, caught up, the relief finally blooming and settling like a wave of tingling heat, resulting in you slacking where you lay. Midnight was careful in his end to not collapse over you, rolling to his side as not to injure, seeming profoundly relieved.
“I’m… sorry,” he brought up after a while. “I didn’t mean to react the way I did before, but it’s… It’s just, I…” he trailed off, unsure how to even word it.
“It’s okay,” you yawned tiredly, turning to face him in the bed. “It’s the weekend, isn’t it? The festival will pass by Monday. I can stay home until that happens, and you can, um… take some time to make sure I smell correct again, right?”
Midnight caught on immediately, diving into a kiss you on the neck, already fired up for round two, and three, and four.
How lucky he was that you understood.
“I’ll have to be very thorough, then,” he promised, his eyes wide and wild, his voice beaming with excitement. “It’ll take a while, I think.”
You sighed sleepily, but again, you didn’t mind.
It seemed you would be sleeping extra well tonight, after all.
