The Carnelles

A young boy with long black hair ran through the smoldering ruins of a burning building. The beams supporting the building fell around him completely engulfed in flames and licking dangerously close to his skin. He gasped and backed away from the beams, racing off to look for an exit. Finally, a doorway with light from the outside pouring through it presented itself to him and he made a mad dash for it. 

The boy could just practically feel the building about to completely collapse around him as he dove for safety. He managed to make it through the doorway and fell to the ground panting for breath. Though, the raven-haired male didn’t stay there long as he ran up the nearby hill getting as far away from the blaze as possible. He panted and just watched the building burn shaking his head slowly. 

He muttered under his breath in a thick southern accent, “ The hell’s goin’ on..?”
