Top-5 'nope' and top-5 'dope' Shameless (or Gallavich) moments
Hi! Sorry, this took a while because it was really hard!! But here is my best attempt...
Nope
This is so fucking hard. Because there are lots of things that made me go "yeesh" but it's surprisingly hard to remember which were the worst...
(I'm going to cheat a bit by grouping some things that I generally found unpleasant rather than specific scenes):
Every scene with Carol, Kev and V trying to get Carol pregnant. Shudder.
Sheila trying to do the r-slur reclamation stuff in season 3.
Any scene where Frank has sex, pretty much. Like I'm not anti sex scenes in general, but I struggle with why anyone would sleep with him. He canonically smells awful!!
Ian's sex scene with the random woman in early season 7... Hated it for many reasons.
So it's a bit not like the others here, because it felt story relevant and effective in a way the others didn't to me, but I have to close my eyes at the scene where Debbie drops baby Franny 😬😬😬
Dope
I'm going with dope meaning scenes that are great and uplifting in some way, not necessarily my favourite scenes, though there's overlap obviously.
4x11 Mickey coming out. Just... Such an awesome scene.
4x11 also... the scenes with Lip and Amanda and her parents and the DCFS woman at the Gallagher house. That whole sequence is beautiful and I loved every second.
5x10 The dugouts scene. There's some angst but I love the way it resolves in its uniquely Ian and Mickey way.
7x10 dock sluts. Do I need to say more?
2x01 The Gallaghers coming to rescue Liam from the guy Frank owed money to. The strut through the lights? Fiona pushing aside the shotgun? The family united? Loved it.
So that's what I got... Ask me again tomorrow the list might be different.
