We’re all people.
Why doesn’t the world understand that nobody chooses how, when, or why they’re born?
Why don’t we understand that it’s nobody’s fault of their own to be born a certain race, gender, orientation, family’s religious beliefs (likely forced onto them), into a certain family, or how their family chose to raise them.
We need to understand there are things out of everyone’s control. Why can’t we all get along in regards to these things? You can’t choose being who you are.
If you are a marketer, you will know that some businesses like Amazon and Coca-Cola successfully applied the market orientation principles to enhance or expand their goods or services.
How likely is it for a freshman to get an on campus, part time job?
There are plenty of jobs available for all students on campus! As long as you do well in your interview, you may have a shot at getting a chance to work wherever you want to. A lot of people actually look for freshmen to hire because they hope that they will stay with them for the next 4-5 years rather than having to re-hire someone after a senior graduates. Be sure to look up part-time on campus jobs at SCOTjobs once you’re a UCR student!
How do we know if we were supposed to sign up for the MAE? If we didn't sign up on time, will we be able to take it during orientation?
All students who plan to enter a major that requires at least one course in Mathematics should take the MAE for appropriate placement. If you are undeclared, you should try to consider if the major you wish you declare in the future will require a math course. All majors in BCOE, CNAS, and some in CHASS will require you to take the MAE. For more information please check out arc.ucr.edu/placement
If we don't like the way our student ID came out, will we be able to retake our pictures later in the year? Or would we have to wait until the following year?
Student ID pictures are only retaken if you have lost your ID card which also comes with a replacement fee of $25. Luckily, no one really looks at your student ID very much in college!
Hi so im an incoming freshman and i got put in to my alternate which is undeclared CHASS. Now, i have decided I want to join a different college, which is CNAS. I still want to go in as undeclared but i dont know the steps to get there. Please help! I really want to be an undeclared major in CNAS! Thanks!
Major changes will be offered at orientation or if you’re unable to at that time be sure to reach out to your advisor as soon as the school year starts.
If I am exempt from taking both the math and english placement exams, then which specific courses would I be placed in upon enrollment?
The score you received in your AP classes will determine where you are placed in your english and math courses. For example a score of 3 or better will exempt you from being placed in either English 1A or English 1B. For math, receiving a 3, 4, or 5 on either AB or BC AP Calculus exam can exempt you from the placement exam and will place you in either Math 9A or 9B (depending on whether you took the AB or BC exam).
Okay so I wasn't *too* worrried about orientation, but now I kinda am! I'm a very quiet person with major social anxiety and the idea of having to be loud and outgoing and do chants and all that is honestly my worst nightmare. Do we have to do all that?
Do what you’re comfortable with! They won’t force you to do anything, but they will be very encouraging. They are trying to get out of your comfort zone so make sure to be open minded!
