Back off Peas - Watermelon is the new 'IT' thing...
...in our household. Happy Tuesday all!
As for an update on the home-front:
The baby hand print ornament making is not easy. We are doing two a day (she gets frustrated if we try to do any more than that) and they still look like Wilson. I even subjected my mother to helping (surprise you are getting one - probably this one!) and she tried doing a foot bulb. It's a blob. I know I know, one day I'll be saying, 'Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwh! This is the most precious blob I have ever seen'.
Also - the hubby has scrubbed the floor twice trying to get rid of the glitter I spilled. I kind of like the glisten and it's in pink. How can this be that bad?
My daughter looooooves watermelon (I figured this out a couple weeks ago when she ate all of my mine off my plate at First Watch). I bought a quarter of a sweet and juicy watermelon at Target the other day that she and the hubby could not keep their hands off. I even liked it and I'm not a watermelon fan. Hip hip hooray to Target for having a produce that was successful - even when out of season. I used to think it was not beneficial and was like eating water but I recently learned that it is high in Vitamin C, a good source of potassium and can narrow your risk for hypertension.
"If your little ones don't dig into their swiss chard, lima beans or spinach — all great sources of potassium — consider offering them a serving of watermelon instead. It is a great source of potassium, which helps muscle and nerve function, helps maintain the body's proper electrolyte and acid-base balance, and helps lower the risk of high blood pressure."
My quads were seriously sore from the Jingle Bell 5K (I was doing the typical squat-walk-whine up the stairs thing) so I moved my Asylum V2 Power Legs (and Ab Shredder) workout to yesterday and burnt some serious calories. My legs are not AS sore as they were but the hubby did say, "You should probably train for these things". He's right - but I don't like running that much. :) I prefer to kick, punch, and jump - usually the ceiling on accident. We can just call this de-popcorning the ceiling?
This morning I did Back & 6 Pack + Pure Contact. Working the back and abs does not usually burn massive calories (thus the low burn on my FR) but the Pure Contact is a bunch of jumping around so it gets me another 200 or so in 20 minutes. :)
Today, it's a cold day and L slept in until 9:45am (which is an hour later than usual). This little girl must have been tired - 13 hours straight of sleep isn't too shabby. :) No complaints here - I got my workout, shower, and makeup done before she was awake! She's got her cute fleece outfit on which makes me wish I had one.
Mommy side note: I decided that our next venture is weening off the bottle. Apparently, the 'peds' think babies should be off the bottle shortly after a year old. I was talking to a mommy friend of mine today about it. It's always great to have friends with kids to talk to! My daughter associates warm milk in a bottle with nap time or bed time. Therefore, I am going to find a sippy cup that looks and feels like a bottle so L does not give me the 'what the heck is this thing' look when I try using the cup we have now. We will stop warming the milk so.... warm... too. I'll keep you posted. :) I will tell you what - I will be pretty excited to put away the bottles, drying rack, and warmer sitting on our counter. :D
I was thinking something like this one. I like that it looks and feels like a bottle and holds 9 ounces but I have read some reviews that some have had issues with the sucking part not working.
This one is really intense and switches from valve to straw. However, the handles may confuse make her angry her since her Dr. Brown bottles do not have them.
There are so many cool gadgets sippy cups out there it's like picking one purple flower in a meadow of wildflowers. Trial and error, right? Away we go!
Any suggestions? Is everyone ready for the holidays? :)
