DECONSTRUCTING ORNSTEIN’S HELMET - Visual reference for artists Awwight guys, listen up cus im kinda proud of this >:-) I’ve made a first attempt at deconstructing a helmet. Armour can be tricky, specially those that are so adorned such as Ornstein’s..... I separated the four layers of the helmet and counted the “spikes” (is that what you call them?) for better visual reference. Hopefully the handwriting is visible :-} After looking so attentively to his helmet, now I can’t help but to see it as if he’s wearing a crown... Maybe this will help me to better visualise him from now on MY BIGGEST ADVICE FOR DRAWING ARMOUR: do these studies yourself. I kind of wanted to share mine because im so hype cus i learnt a lot by doing this, but the reality is probably that this won’t be of much help if you don’t do it yourself XD Go, grab a piece of armour of your preferred character and separate it into pieces, assign them different colours, highlight the things that you consider to be important, etc etc! I’ve only drawn armour 2 times... I’m very new at this, but already I feel like this is such a hack for future drawings, my understanding of Ornstein’s headpiece has improved a lot by doing this today. My goal is to be able to draw Ornstie without looking at references. Will I do another one of these things for the rest of his armour...? jhsjhjshjh i totally should, but who knows. What I do know tho is that I’ll definitely do studies like this for future armoured characters! Not sure if I’ll post them, but I’ll definitely use it as exercise for myself. STUDY YOUR ARMOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since im a noob at both art tutorials and armour, feel free to tell me if you think something should be changed or added! Constructive feedback is great. Th-thankz for readin :-}
