A friend from sword fighting has brought me a tiny beb to foster!!! thank u spring time you never keep me waiting B)
Sadly this kiddo is a little boy so i’ll be releasing him as soon as he's old enough!! But I'm sure he’ll be ok down at the creek by my house (its a lot of land with wild plants and a stream/creek so he’ll be in a great area!!)
not exactly something I was hoping to take on with cupid just having her surgery but!! thats fine i’ll work with it~
I'm gonna try to post some videos tomorrow of the baby rat *u* she's super social now and very playful, she loves for me to rub her neck and ears and shoulders through the bars in the evening and when she's done she gets 500% more speed and energy and I nearly can't see her when she's moving, she's like a blindingly fast blur of grey and then suddenly she's on the opposite side of her birdcage haha She is a lot like a zebra finch and how they are so fast and very like a cockatiel in her personality. Really flighty and more like a bird than a rat. She's a lot faster than a bird though haha especially at night. She also still likes to climb on my shoulders and run up my arm when I open her cage, and climb on my head while also trying to sniff things that are around me haha I also saw her tear up some paper towel and carry the little poof she got to her nest and hide it, she hides a lot of stuff it's adorable. She also comes out immediately if I start talking in the evening/night because she's awake, in the day time it takes about a minute of talking to her for little head to poke out to say hello

no update pics today for the little baby rat but i do have text updates!!
she is incredibly active now and her little radar ears pick up everything, she tends to be startled but sounds and movements that aren't made by me, but if I'm talking softly or at normal volume she is totally calm and continues doing her little rat things like sniffing around or grooming herself. Also today after i fed her, i was holding her in my hand and she started licking my hand all over, like every little spot, and when she got to one of my rings she tried to chew on it and then went back to licking me all over my hand really throughly. it was really cute so i pet her cheeks and even as i was petting her she was grooming my hand and it was adorable. She also got really kinda distressed when i put her away, which usually she is excited to go in her cage and hide in her little bed but she kept running around and going up to the little bars and sniffing around, so i was talking softly and put my hand up to the cage and she put her little paws on my hand and started licking me again and sniffing and stuff, i was eventually able to coax her into her bed spot by opening the cage and picking her up and putting her there and then she ran under and his in it which was good.
She's been really active and she loves to climb all over my arms and shoulders and my ears (she will literally climb 100% onto my ear and sniff around and then hop back to my shoulder and run around) and ill hold my hand in a little cave shape on my shoulder and she will consistently run over to hide in my hand and its just really darling.
she's got such a cute little personality, but is still very flightily and bolts to ‘safe spots’ if she hear anything or sees any unexpected movement, so that is good.
she also comes out of her hiding spot/bed spot if i walk up to the cage and talk softly and put my hand up to the cage, which is pretty cool, though she usually gets all hyper trying to get to me and i gotta comfort her and get her to go back to her bed spot and calm down, the good thing is she is still kinda frightened by other people and movement.
The little baby rat has become 5x more flighty since her ears perked up, they are like radars and pick up EVERY sound, I'm happy she isn't so spooked by me cuz idk if I'd be able to get her to eat. She has grown so much in the past couple of days and I think she's gonna be a really good wild rat when she is old enough to be released c:

I don't have a picture but after feeding the little rat friend today I was petting him all over and I touched his cheek and he pushed it against my finger and almost rolled over so I was rubbing his little cheek/chin and he practically fell asleep, and when I stopped and pet the other side he did the same thing and it was really darling
