When Rey was young, around eight or nine years old, she befriended a group of other children on Jakku who liked to go exploring and scavenging with her. But she realized they did it as a hobby and not a means of survival like she did, as those children were not orphans. They would invite her to spend time with them and even their families sometimes, but Rey always had to make some sort of excuse when she left that she was needed at home. However, her friends didn’t know she had lied to them the entire time, that she was actually an orphan and didn’t have a family to go back to. While a few of them felt bad for her, the entire group collectively left her out of their activities when they found out, only leaving Rey to feel abandoned and lonely all over again.
