* FOR THE MUN ! // @orphanos
What drew you to rping this character?
oh man…. buckle up, this explanation might get long. so i’ve rped a good chunk of the so2 cast. so2 is and has been my long time obsession, and it was one of the first series i started actively rping for. i started out with writing leon, and then i picked up precis… and soon after, a friend of mine asked if i would pick up ashton. ashton has been a longtime favorite character of mine, i’ve always loved him to bits, but i’d never really thought he was someone i could write. so i tried it out and it didn’t stick because i wasn’t sure how to really get a feel for him, and i dropped him. a while went by, i picked up noel from the same cast, but he wasn’t really sticking either. SO:Anamnesis then finally came out with ashton as playable, and i started maining him in multiplayer sessions. then it was like, a light bulb…. “Oh. oh no i want to write this character.” so i tested him out again, did some extensive character study, and here we are almost two years later! i think tho, more in line with the question, what has always drawn me to ashton is how goofy he is, but also how sweet and honestly adorable he can be. he’s funny and i have so much fun writing the antics between him and his dragons (which i get shyer about allowing myself to freely write here in isola aha;; i know he’s a pretty odd character so i admit i hold back a little) and it’s great that his dragons allow me to play around with narrative! i’ve always liked writing characters that don’t communicate traditionally, and gyoro and ururun certainly fall into that category. it’s like three characters in one, it’s my favorite. tbh i just,,, this silly swordsman and his dragons bring me a lot of happiness and i’m sure that’s why his muse has stuck around so consistently for this long!
Do you like to plot or improv?
i’d say a little bit of both! i like spontaneous threads with absolutely no plotting involved, because those can bring about some interesting situations and even character development! you never can really guess how those are gonna turn out, and i love seeing which direction they take. but i also like a bit of plotting from time to time! especially if i need to gain a sense of what mood a thread should have, or some important character development that is to come sometime in the future. i can’t say i’m all too good at plotting. it has to be like… a galaxy brain moment for me to come up with any decent ideas LOL… but! i do quite like plotting things in advance, it gives me something to look forward to.
What’s a trope or plot you think is overdone in roleplay?
oh man…. my mind is totally blanking on this one. i can’t say i can really think of anything i would call “overdone,” because i’ve seen a pretty big variation of plots in rp. (i’ve been rping since like…. Ye Olden Days of Myspace. i’ve seen A Lot lmao.) plus, there’s not really a whole lot that really disinterests me in rp. i like seeing angst, or fight threads, or fluff, etc… so idk! i don’t think i have an answer for this. sorry ‘bout that!
