In a secluded gully at Pekina Creek two poems were carved into the rockface by a local boy Donald McDonald. The second of these poems, carved in 1901, is a sentimental expression of farewell to the district. McDonald was departing for America, where he hoped to exploit his invention of a chainless crank-driven bicycle.
