I took a moment(s) to do this over the past week. I've been trying to push the differences between my pallanoph characters to make each of them distinct without wandering into the world of exaggerated caricature. It helps that all of them are different in color, but when only sketches are visible, I need to push the defining characteristics in both face and body. I feel like this is a good start, at the very least. Critiques and suggestions are welcome, if you have them. Just bear in mind I don't want to ascend from the realm that is semi-realism.
It's tricky when you don't have a real world equivalent to pull from. My biggest references and inspirations had always been equines and felines, but they're not all that helpful past a certain point. Besides, pallanoph heads are deceptively tricky to draw. Think they look simple? Well, think again.
To those of you who have drawn a pallanoph, whether it be an existing character or a no-name, what was the most challenging part?
