Eddie asked me to wait till today to post this, because he wanted to see if people noticed, yesterday. LOL! 😂 He is officially done with his #orthodonture; phases 1, 2, and 3 complete. 👍🏻 Next week he gets to pick up the most boring #retainers in the world... I guess they work better, but he misses out on the fun of getting to pick what his retainer looks like! 😭 Oh, well. HE'S DONE!!! 🙌🏼 #smile #smileorthodontics #moranorthodontics #zinnandmoranorthodontics #zinngrins #braces #powerchain #rubberbands #swipeforcloseup (at Zinn and Moran Orthodontics) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8MLo_XnmEa/?igshid=bmd7b9mc1kiw

The Hazards of Do-It-Yourself Orthodonture
Orthodontists warn that D.I.Y. teeth straightening or gap closing is not only foolish, it can lead to permanent loss of teeth. Well
I took my little sister to the orthodontist. Im high as balls in the waiting room and some kid just got his braces off or some shit and hes staring at me all seductively and wont quit and im super uncomfortable. Fuck me man-_-
I was sad that I only saw this guy for about a second at the orthodontist's parking lot. @maria.love suggested I go home and paint him. #birds #bluebird #drawing #painting #penandink #watercolor #orthodonture #illustration #capecod
I feel like I neglect this blog but my appointments are always two months apart. Anyway, long and happy update! I'll give a quick overview: I got navy ligatures, a powerchain across my entire bottom row of teeth, my upper canines were finally attached to the wire, and the rotten plastic mouth doom bite plate is GOOOOOOONE.
I've decided to put this in list format because my mind is even more disorganized than usual. My appointment was today, of course, and it went really well!
Back to navy ligatures. All I gained from the purple was an appreciation for navy. I do love it on teeth.
Last appointment, they put a powerchain across five of my front bottom teeth which fixed the gaps in the very front but left a giant tooth-sized gap between the canine and the bicuspid (I did not just look up "tooth names" on Google images for that), so today, fortunately and unfortunately, they put one giant powerchain on my entire bottom set of teeth, plus a thicker wire. I can hear the pain a-comin'.
They replaced the top wire, but I suspect it may actually be thinner than the last one.
My upper two canines that were surgically exposed had previously been anchored to the wire with chain because they were too far up. Today, he deemed them close enough to replace the weird anchor things with actual (sort of) brackets (eyelets) and attach them straight to the wire.
The surfaces of those canines were unusually jagged and deformed - I think the oral surgeon may have chipped them - but when the orthodontist was removing the residual glue he actually smoothed the teeth down. They look so nice aside from their sideways state. I can't wait for those stupid things to come down fully.
AND THE ULTIMATE OCCURRENCE: ortho decided to check my retainer/bite plate... looked at my closed bite... and said "how would you like to be done with that retainer?" MUSIC TO MY EARS. I SMILED LIKE A FOUR YEAR OLD WHO HAD JUST BEEN OFFERED ICE CREAM: SHEEPISHLY AND FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT. IT'S GONE, AFTER TWO YEARS, THAT GOD FORSAKEN AIR POCKET-INFESTED FOOD-CATCHING ILL-FITTING PIECE OF PLASTIC IS GONE.
Overall, this is going to prove to be a relatively painful tightening but I'm ecstatic over all of the progress. And guys omg I have pointy upper canines. I don't even know why but I like them very much.
I have one slight concern after this. There are a few gross spots of excess gum under the canines (which will presumably get worse as they push down) and between my front two teeth. I don't really know what to do about that. I guess it's too petty to justify more surgery but it feels and looks disturbing to me.... What to do, what to do.
(Photos tomorrow for sure because I am a lazy butt!)
