Hi. Okay. Mer anatomy talk time

There are skeletons drawn in this so if you dont want to see it then look away

So, the skeletons look like this, and their jaws are able to unhinge in order to eat larger prey if they want. All mers are carnivores, so they all have sharp teeth

And specific mers, like the larger DCA ones, grow another pair of arms as they get older. When that happens, one of the bones on their spine has a hinge on it developed after hatching, and that helps the new bones grow and be mobile

Their digestive systems are pretty basic as well, with no intestines after their stomachs, because their acid is strong enough to digest anything, and that includes bones

They also have two stomachs! One is for kinda storing food for later, like if they know they dont want to hunt later, they can still eat the prey and not have to worry about hoarding the food somewhere where other preditors can easily steal it

Their second one is for digestion, which I dont really have to explain because it works just like any other living things' stomach, the acid is just stronger

The mers have an ability to eat anything that they want, even if its poisonous or has venom they can eat it because they are immune to it

They have barbs in their neck located close to their stomachs, which work like how a sea turtles does. They can eat prey and vomit up any water that they swallow along with them

Vanessa does go out to the ocean sometimes to go fishing, and get at better look at the mers. Unfortunately for her, they usually just tip her little boat over when they see her. She cant tell if its supposed to come off as rude or playful. MerMonty, MerMoon, and MerSolar are mainly the ones who do that to her lol

Explain yourself

Easy:

- Hes silly and fun

- He has a pet catfish

- Only one of the wild mers that speaks english

- Has an adopted human son

- Has great relationships with all the other fishies

I need a villian in the mer au so badly. I think I might go with Ruin being one

Also, imma make Helios, Jack, Ruin, and Solar Flare all siblings. I know I said that mers only have three eggs, but it's possible for them to have more than three if some eggs from a previous clutch had not been able to hatch. So Solar Flare will be from the first clutch, and be the only surviving egg of that, and then the other three will be from the same clutch

Ok so I do plan on having Helios, Ruin, Solar Flare, and Jack added to the Overseas AU. They'll live in a completely different part of the ocean compared to all my other mers, so they dont know about them

I'll give them some lore a bit later
