Just another round of victory for the red team in Capture the Flag.
~Andi Brooks, entry 2. Humor and Hijinks festival with my family~
We met Hope and Erwin in San Myshuno for the H&H Festival, but only Xi was feeling it. I can’t help but be worried about BOTH of my boys. Cayson hasn’t given us a call yet, and Oscar’s mood swings are horrible.
Lyssa tried talking to him. “Oscar baby, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing Mom. Absolutely nothing.”
“Clearly something...”
“Just drop it Mom, it’s not like anyone listens anyway.”
“Listen? About what baby?”
“Cayson for starters.”
“Is there something? Has he contacted you?”
“Nope!”
“I am sure he is just studying really hard honey, he’ll contact us soon.”
Oscar just laughed and walked away.
Bonding Time for the Chaos Siblings.
I need some spicy scout are you willing to give - a scout simp (/nf btw lmao, love your work btw!)
Hmm... idk about spicy Scout I always have trouble with coming up ideas on what to do with him. Maybe in the future I'll think of something but right now I can't really think of anything spicy involving Scout. Wholesome things I got plenty of that recently tho.
(I asked, he answered. Maybe next time he'll be in a good mood to negotiate.)
~Oscar Brooks, entry 7. Horrible news~
I’m graduating soon! I am excited, but nervous at the same time. School’s a breeze, I got this in the bag. I should get some information on that internship soon as well. I think being a detective is going to be cool.
~later in the day~
I didn’t get the internship. The guidance counselor called me in near the end of the day, ten minutes before my last class...and she sat me down, nice and gentle.
“Oscar, I got some news...” And she gave me the envelope. I was rejected, because they didn’t think I was well-suited for the job. What was it? Was it because they didn’t think I could work hard enough? That I was a spoiled brat that was given everything, given my last name and family? Did they find out about my sister or did my brother do something? Were my fitness tests not good enough? My grades? Why?
I could barely concentrate on homework that night. I just got cake and went to my room.
~Andi Brooks, entry 11. A day like any other...~
Well, the day started out normally. A cloudy, spring day in Strangerville...making a knife block to post on my plopsy shop, it’s just a little nice hobby...and apparently, someone left the fire on in Cayson’s room! Imagine that, 18 years and not a single fire, then he’s away at college and everything catches fire! Oscar ran in to try and put the fire out, but caught on fire himself - why are Scouts outfits not made fireproof? They should fix that. - But between his Mom and I we had it under control. Now just a mess to clean up...and maybe a bottle of wine tonight.
~Oscar Brooks, entry 5. Sick~
So yeah...as you can see, the spring flu hit a bit harder than usual this year, and between my constant stress and worry over my internship and the stress of graduation, it hit reallllly hard, so I went to the hospital. Loads of medicine and shots later (shots SUCK by the way!) I couldn’t do much but nap for a day.
I think Xi has it too, which is weird. Shouldn’t Sixams not get sick? She hasn’t left her room for several days. Dad seems really mad about something too. Did something happen when I left for the hospital or something?
~Oscar Brooks, entry 4. Apologies~
I stuck to myself for a few days. Xialla didn’t leave her room. Mom had to go down there and convince her/drag her out to get her to go to school. She didn’t come to me or call for me through her mental link thing if they were messing with her, although that only happened the one time. I was popular, so no one told me anything. I just felt like a POS.
But it wasn’t until one day, when my guilt had reached an all-time high that Whiskers decided to be a big pest. Ankle scratching, shoelace-biting, yowling at me CONSTANTLY...she even knocked my tea off the table.
“ALRIGHT, what is up with you cat?”
“MREOW!” Whiskers slapped my wrist, then started pushing me with her head.
“Yeah I get it I screwed up.”
*push* *pushpushpushpushpushpush*
“What? Fine, I’ll get up.”
Then she was batting and shoving at my ankles, so I humored the cat, and she pushed me towards the basement stairs. “Uh no...she won’t talk to me Whiskers. I screwed up BAD.”
* pushpushpushpushpushpush*
“I can go try to talk to her?”
“MEOWMEOWMEOWMEOW YOWL”
“Alright then.” So I went down, and knocked on her door.
“Yeah?” Guilt churned at my stomach. She sounded like she’d been crying.
“It’s Oscar. Can I come in?”
No response, then she came and opened the door. Sure enough, her eyes were red.
“What do you want?”
“To say I’m sorry. To say I was a big jerk, and I shouldn’t have taken my bad mood out on you. It was inexcusable. Can you forgive me?”
She waited a moment, then nodded, but she was still crying. She sat down on her bed to continue her homework, so I joined her.
“Anything I can help with?” I pulled my work out too.
“This problem in Algebra, and why the kids at school make fun of me for talking.”
“They still bothering you?”
“No!” She said it too quickly, I knew it was a lie, but I let it slide for now. “I can just hear them, giggling about it behind my back. Do you know why?”
I began to help her with the problem, my heart breaking even as my frustrations with my father grew. Why didn’t he TELL her already!? “Um, well...you talk to yourself when you are doing your homework and stuff Xi, you know?”
“Yeah, but everyone does that!”
“Not...in a different language Xi.” My heart broke to tell her, and to see the utter confusion in her eyes. My suspicions were met. She really didn’t know.
“What do you mean another language? I’m speaking simlish!...Aren’t I?”
“No Xi, you’re not.”
Confused tears slid down her face. “So what am I speaking?”
I couldn’t tell her. I am not even sure. But it wasn’t my place to tell her what she was. That was Dad’s.
“Xi...I don’t really know. But how you reached out to me that day with the bullies and the dumpster...you need to talk to Dad about this.”
“Dad?” She stared at me. “I think I will. I need to know...whatever it is.”
I gave her a sideways hug. “Yeah. But anyways, math?”
I hope Dad will actually tell her. She deserves to know the truth.
