2016 OSCARS RECAP Another Academy Awards are in the bag! How were they? Pretty cool actually! Even though I more than often disagree with the Academy sometimes, I can't deny that I love the Oscars! It's a celebration of what I hold mosf dear in life which is movies. And even though no black people were invited, all the stars still came out and we had a pretty good show on our hands! Right off the bat I loved that short little montage of all the best movies of the year. Then our host Chris Rock comes out to speak the gospel truth! No musical number, no song and dance, just an in-depth hilarious monologue regarding the Academy's race and lack of diversity problem. As much as the fact that no black people were nominated bothers me, that's not the point. The point is, LEO FINALLY WON HIS OSCAR!!!!! After all these years, Leo was finally able to deliver the speech he's been rehearsing since Titanic! I admire the fact that he dedicated his speech to address the issue of global warming and climate change. Props to you Leo! And too all the other winners too! Congrats to Brie Larson on winning Best Actress for Room which I still need to see, Alicia Vikander topping off a great year winning Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl, and Alejandro G. Iñarritu for going (as Drake said) BACK-TO-BACK by winning Best Director for the second year in a row for The Revenant. You all rock! But the steal of the night... HOW THE FUCK DOES SYLVESTER STALLONE LOSE TO MARK RYLANCE?!?!!?!?!?!? Don't get me wrong, Mark Rylance was great in Bridge of Spies, BUT STALLONE DUDE!!!!!! This was probably his only chance at winning on Oscar in his LIFE!!! FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING BORING ASS SPY!!!! We still love you Sly, no matter what the Academy says. Other things I loved about the awards show were how Sarah Silverman was roasting James Bond, the surprise appearance of Suge Knight as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and the fact that Woody and Buzz presenting the award for Best Animated Movir to Inside Out. Woody and Buzz have been together for 20 YEARS!!!! THAT WAS SO NOSTALGIC I CRIED!!!! Also, whover invited C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8 deserves an honorary Oscar! That was perfect! As for the performances, Sam Smith couldn't stop rocking back and forth which was kinda distracting, Dave Grohl's song during the always poignant In Memoriam section was really sweet, The Weeknd gave a good show with his Monday morning hair and Lady Gaga's song deserved the Oscar for Best Picture. Man! That was some powerful shit! Did anyone else think that Harrison Ford was gonna come out when the Indiana Jones music started playing? I did. But no! It was fucking Joe Biden! Who the fuck invited him to talk about sexual abuse?!?!? Actually I'm joking. Seeing the Vice President of the United States at the Oscars was pretty cool. Love how he even acknowledged that he is the "least qualified person to be there." Did anyone else nerd out hard when they saw Jared Leto/The Joker and Margot Robbie/Harley Quinn share the stage together? I did. Hard. And what's all this hate that Jared Leto's been getting for his tux? Is it because of that flower he put on his neck as tie? That looked cool! I actually want that to be my tux for prom. Another thing I love was Ennio Morricone's speech as he won Best Original Score for The Hateful Eight. The fact that he's a decrepit old man who doesn't know English made that speech very heartfelt. I almost shed a tear. But enough of that, lemme congratulate the big winner of the night, Spotlight. Not gonna lie, I was hoping for The Revenant but the Academy does love their movies with social relevance so it really shouldn't be surprise Spotlight won Best Picture. And for the second year in a row, a Michael Keaton movie wins Best Picture. Cool huh? Oh was it just me or did Morgan Freeman look like he smoked a good ass joint before coming out? Anyway, lastly, I'm glad Mad Max: Fury Road didn't pull a Return of the King and sweep all the categories. I would've lost my shit. Good movie, nit Best Picture. So in the end, I got most of my predictions right. All this show needed was a Deadpool cameo. It may have ended way past 11:30 but we can't deny that we all had fun. Again, congrats Leo! We still love you Sly, and everyone (including me) go see Spotlight! It's a great movie! (or so they say) BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
