Oscularia caulescens
Some members of the Aizoaceae, or Ice Plant Family, grow as little tufts or clumps, while others spread out like a carpet. Oscularia caulescens is one of the latter, with blue-green boat-shaped leaves and lots of purplish-pink flowers at this time of year. It is native to South Africa’s Western Cape Province. The genus Oscularia is closely related to the large genus Lampranthus, and some authors have proposed putting the Oscularia species into that genus.
