I wanted to do a remake (or in this case, a redraw) of my first drawing, featuring not only my favorite Water-Type starter Pokemon but also my favorite Water-Type Pokemon in general; Oshawott! I figured it'd be nice to look back and see how far I've come over the past year since I started drawing! I first started drawing with just a keyboard and mouse! Since then, I've developed my skills and eventually got my hands on a proper drawing tablet to connect to my computer and develop my skills further by drawing all different kinds of Pokemon in various situations, poses, environments, etc. And I'm still learning new things as I continue to draw.
When it came to drawing Oshawott this time around, I used my original drawing for reference and let my imagination take it from there. When the original drawing was done using a combination of Krita and Gimp, the remake was all done using Krita alone. I really love how this turned out, especially the shading on Oshawott! I also had some fun with the Blur brush in Krita on the environment as I wanted to create a more authentic underwater-feeling-like environment. I was initially going to use this brush on Oshawott as well, but the blur ended up erasing most of if not, all of Oshawott's colors and I didn't want that. (I probably used the Blur brush wrong on Oshawott, but still, not what I wanted.) Regardless of the setbacks, this was fun to do and a nice throwback to where it all began!
