This is TJ Oshie. #77 for the Washington Capitals. #74 for the USA National team. Do I know what the TJ stands for? No. No, I do not. There's been speculation. I'm certain the T is for Timothy because of Tumblr and Wikipedia. I don't have any clue to what the J is like at all - like no clue where it came from because Wikipedia says his middle name is Leif and that's hilarious but clearly doesn't start with a J. Anyway. TJ is 6'0" and will be 30 in December. He's like the shootout master (shootout = after overtime regulation is over and the score is still the same. The team selects one player at a time to go against the goalie of the opposing team and they shoot - the team who gets two in a row when the other team gets one or none wins). He's on the top line for the Capitals and he's really good. We just got him last summer and he was one of our leading scorers last season. When one of the Alternate Captains is out (aka most likely Orpik) he gets an A. He is from Washington state but played some high school and travel hockey in Minnesota but played college hockey of U of North Dakota where he and Johnny Toews (again with the Toews) were like bffs. Anywhom. He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues and then traded to the Caps after a crap ton of time there. So of course TJ plays for the Team USA national team in like every international tournament ever. He was the Sochi Shootout Hero™ for Team USA. So when TJ was still in St Louis he met Lauren Cosgrove and they dated and had a child, Lyla. There were a lot of rumors that he cheated on her a lot (because he's a hot and talented hockey player and he probably did lbr) but he and Lauren got married and the rumors stopped after that. He and Lauren just had their second baby girl, Leni. He's such a good dad and loves his girls so much omg. They are the cutest family like ever and are seriously goals. Like holy crap. He's really good with kids even ones that aren't his own. Like kids love him and it's adorable. Anyway. So when he went to Sochi for the Winter Olympics, he and a bunch of other American players saw that there were a lot of stray dogs who need love and he adopted one who lives with his family now. TJ is great and has obviously calmed down since coming to DC. 🙏🏽☝🏽️ He has an obsession with calling everyone "babe" and it's adorable. He loves his teammates and they love him. Tom Wilson called him "Oshbabe" (probs because he calls everyone babe) and the Russians call him "Oshov" because he's too good at hockey to be American lmao. We are blessed to have him.
You know… I want to know the back story of Oshie’s nickname “Oshov.” Like how exactly did they accept him as one of their own??
