Liking the engineers feels less like being in a fandom and more like co-owning a suspiciously quiet New York apartment with 5 roommates you never actually see.
Then once every full moon, someone walks in the kitchen at 3am, slams their mug on the counter and goes:

Ossian
Artist: Johann Michael Wittmer (German, 1802-1880)
Date: 1842
Medium: Oil on canvas

In 1762 the Scottish poet James McPherson published a cycle of epic poems purporting to be the works of Ossian, a blind Celtic bard. Macpherson claimed to have gathered and translated oral material in the Scots Gaelic dialect, supposedly from ancient sources. He had tapped into the public's love of Scottish culture, and these tales became a huge success, and an influence on the Romantic movement.

- From a Fragment of Ancient Poetry
I've been really getting into Ossian poetry lately, and I just had to share one of my favorite stanzas that made me cry when I first read it. 🥹
This is quite different from my typical posts, since there really isn't much of an overlap between early modern poetry and my more commom interests, but I would love to share some of my favorite excerpts for those who might be interested!
So if you happen to stumble upon this message-in-a- bottle sort of post and are a fan of early modern literature or overly sentimental protagonists like Young Werther, Emil Sinclair, and Tonio Kröger, please message me! I would love to be friends!!! ^^
