Friends and Foes today at Mill Hollow, clockwise: this bush has four Praying Mantis egg sacs (called Oothecae, and every Ootheca is gorgeous), which means there could be nearly 1000 of these babies waiting to hatch from this bush alone to hunt for pests; I'm going Brassica free this year to try to starve out the Harlequin Bugs, so they just sit, fasting in contemplation of Cabbages and Kale that once were; this Whistle Pig will be trapped live and relocated ASAP; Lady Bug larvae are slowly eating up the Aphids being farmed by Ants in the hoop house; finally, my first Potato Beetle larvae sighting of the year - hopefully my last. #ootheca #oothecaisgorgeous #othecae #prayingmantis #harlequinbug #stinkbug #groundhog #whistlepig #ladybuglarvae #potatobeetle #potatobeetlelarvae (at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania)
