Imagine hating Christmas all your life and discovering you're the second coming of Christ. Well, a very similar thing happened to my good friend Theta Sigma-

the way the doctors naming day is Otherstide when otherstide is the celebration of rassilon kicking out the Other. and cartmel masterplan implies the doctor actually is the other. thinking about how the doctor always felt like an outcast on gallifrey and chose to embrace that by running away on otherstideeve

How do you celebrate Otherstide and what day is it?

the actual date isn't certain, but the winter solstice is a pretty good bet - it usually just involves drinking and sending gifts and letters to friends! here's a little drawing i did a while ago, lol

someone sent me this fine fellow for otherstide last year! i need to prepare better for this year, since last year was a bit of a last minute thing, but it would be nice to write letters in gallifreyan and send them out to anyone who asks for one 😄

Happy Otherstide to all those who celebrate, if you happen to be on Gallifrey during this time, here are some fun Otherstide-themed activities you can do:

Reenact the Origin of Otherstide with your friend group (fun way to get rid of anyone you don't like)

Climb the Citadel and shout about how Rassilon was an insecure old man who threw out his friend for no reason

Avoid the police and your House's disappointment afterwards

Join the Thirteenth Night Cult on accident (or on purpose, I'm not judging.)

And the greatest way to celebrate Otherstide; only for those who are truly dedicated to the festive spirit:

Get kicked off of Gallifrey
