A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 163

Episode Title: The Black Ships Even Make A Scene When They Sink

MY 14 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 163 (manga chap 245):

Omg Tosshi’s ending really affected me tonight: I actually started crying. I don’t think I ever cried when I watched this episode before, but just lost it this time. Probably cuz I was already on the verge of a sobfest because of the other show I’d just finished (Guardian) so I was pretty much primed for tears. Thank the gods the Sunrise staff turned things around by the end of the episode otherwise I would’ve been in a pretty dark hole. 

1) I really loved how supportive everyone was of Tosshi and Shinpachi...and I loved Gintoki and Kagura’s cosplay, even though I never read Ashita no Joe.

2) Hijikata’s sexy back.

3) And here’s where I started crying because of the freaking sad music they used for this entire scene.

4) Tosshi saying thank you to Hijikata got to me too. 

5) I mean, I do love Tosshi...or rather, Hijikata’s embodiment of him...and I would always be grateful to him for allowing me to love Hijikata even more, but I don’t think I’ve ever like CRIED over him before until tonight. 

6) Dear sweet Yamazaki. 

7) RIP Tosshi. (although, if memory serves, I think he pops up again one more time later on...or maybe that’s just Hijikata pretending to be him again...or was that just in my imagination? Guess I will see. Rewatching eps really helps jog my shitty memory)

8) I love the Sunrise team.

9) They tried. Man did they try.

10) First time I watched this episode, I absolutely remember screaming “NOOOOOOO!” when they cut away to this shitshow. Thank goodness it was just a joke.

11) Kagura insulting Gintoki for really no good reason whatsoever. So cute.

12) Back then, the Bleach mention probably made me very happy. Now I just feel slightly nostalgic.

13) And then THIS happened and I loved the Sunrise team even more: the gang reads a letter from a 4 year old who illustrated her favorite scene from the show so far. That 4 year old GETS IT.

14) It’s a classic scene for me, Shinpachi-kun.

SHIPS TALLY:

Gintoki x Hijikata: I would’ve been PERFECTLY FINE if they filled 30 minutes with THIS type of randomness.
