I'm taking over my body, back in control, no more shotty

Stickynote stares at the void creeping up its hands, eyes narrowing. They take a deep breath, and force their shoulders to relax. 'I am in control,' they think. 'I am In Control. This Is My Body and I Am In Control.' The void slowly slips away. It sighs in relief, stretching its wings a bit, looking up at the hot chocolate set on the table in front of it.

I bet a lot of me was lost, "T"'s uncrossed and "I"'s undotted

"Tough Day?" Cedar asks, sitting next to them with a mug of tea. They can't help but laugh. "You have no idea." They almost lost it. The kid, then Marri, then Wallace... Their head falls into their crossed arms. They almost Lost It, just like the first time. They'd never really recovered from that. Cedar still looked at them a little differently.

I fought it a lot and it seems a lot like flesh is all I got

No, No, Don't Think About That. It is In Control. It is In Control of Its Body and Its Form and It Is Okay. They won't let That happen again. It's convinced most everyone it's human, or something of the sort. No one is afraid of them. That's good, isn't it? That's good. No one is Afraid of Them.

Not anymore, flesh out the door, swat

But it's lying. It's lying to everyone about who they are and What they are and- "Hemlock, your void's showin." Cedar says casually, sipping his tea, and they clench their fists, sleeves falling over the dark shadows that have consumed its hands. "shit- sorry." "Hey, matters none to me. I just know you don't like loosin your skin." "That's an Awful mental image, thanks." "Mhmm, no problem." They reach out and take a sip of their hot chocolate.

I must've forgot, you can't trust me

It pauses. "Cedar." "Yes, dear?" "Did you replace the sugar with salt?" "...heheh... hehehheh..." They grin menacingly. It sighs. They keep drinking the hot chocolate from hell. "I'm going to kill you someday." "I sincerely do not think you can, but I await it."

I'm open a moment and close when you show it

That day rings in their mind. When the mortals got their hands on Cedar.

Before you know it I'm lost at sea

It was having a bad enough day already. It was just having a nice fly around and next thing it knew, it was on the ground, most of its bones broken and a net constraining it, at least twenty guns pointed at it. They'd gone along, stayed quiet, took silent enjoyment in the winces and slightly sickened faces of the mortals around them as their bones audibly cracked back into place. It was when they were being transferred on a huge boat, and the screams started, that they started to get upset. A few explosions and So Much Death later, Cedar got shoved into the interrogation-esque room with them.

And now that I write and think about it

"Heyyy," Their friend said, covered in blood and more wounds than they could count, and acting as if none of it happened. Even still, the wounds stitched closed and the scars faded. Only the bad wounds ever scar bad enough to stick around. "That was stupid." It said simply, ear flicking. "Look, what was I Supposed to do?" Cedar huffed, and they shrugged, already wiping blood from his face with their sleeve. And then someone grabbed him.

And the story unfolds

It wasn't sure what exactly they were saying. A gun shoved to their friend's head and demands made. It didn't answer. Cedar struggled. He didn't like it when people he didn't know touched him. And then they pulled the trigger.

They were fine, of course. But Hemlock saw Red.

It doesn't remember what happened very clearly. It remembers blaring alarms and screaming and the warping of metal, of ocean waves crashing into the ship and bringing it down, of claws Ripping And Tearing. It remembers flying above where a ship used to be and letting Cedar take care of the few survivors, fins cutting through the water just to get that Last bit of fear in before dragging them down. It remembers being a dark smudge against clear blue skies, shapeless as the dark expanses of the place between worlds, eyes peering out of the rift that was it's very being.

It remembers not seeing Cedar for a few weeks. It remembers their flinch when it first landed next to him. It remembers.

Cedar's laugh brings them out of the memories, and they look up. "Hem, how are you Drinking That? It's awful!" It laughs softly as well, the void creeping up its neck and across its eye fading away, back to normal. "Because You made it." They say, voice fond.

"That's cute and all but please it's so gross I will make you an actual cup of hot chocolate just Stop Drinking That."

It looks him in the eyes and chugs the rest out of spite.

Hi, uh I came here because of that high school au, but what the otterverse?

oh gosh what isnt the otterverse Okay so its like a series? Where people send in asks to further the story? idk how else to describe it sorry I feel like I should direct you to Pacificseaotter, who runs the thing and also has a few different posts for catching up, but instead I'm going to try and recall the whole story by memory! Fuck it we ball yk

Okay so it started as a bit, but slowly evolved into an actual story? first season took place in a theater, It was mostly felicityphoenix5, pacificseaotter, and divorce anon (as far as I remember, also all c! they've been pretty much playing characters since the start) Felix was tied to a chair, Divorce Anon and Paci quoted hamilton at each other, I think Paci killed someone? then paci shot the chandelier, killing herself and divorce anon (revealed to be wallace-marte, crab guy) Felix survived bc xey are a phoenix. Everyone else got out alive I think? We were audience members, also tied to chairs (maybe) Meanwhile I slept through the whole chandelier thing, which becomes a reoccurring bit with my character.

Season 2 was more interaction from everyone else, it lead up to pink anon (who turned out to be wisp? I think?) convincing Otter (pacis character died so star made another, named Otter) to pull a lever, starting the apocalypse. Which my character (stickynote) slept through. This took place in a wendies btw. I made a good "wrong lever" joke. So, apocalypse started, everyone rushes to try and fix it. Eventually pink name shows up again and is like "ik how to fix this follow me" and otter is, reasonably, like "wtf no you started this whole thing like that" but eventually agrees, and goes to flip the lever again. Gumy and Pink text (probably wisp?) fight and both die. Otter dies saving Felix. Oh yeah the lever gets pulled again and MOST of the monsters of the apocalypse die/disappear. Some are still around. My guy, Stickynote, goes into stasis for 4 years, and everyone else learns to cope with the apocalypse. the wendys anons get married and start a new city.

Echo (pacis newest character) shows up and. Well they're just kinda here rn I think? Stickynote wakes from stasis and is trying to answer all of the wishes people left on the fountain beneath where they slept. Theres a kid that can control the monsters?? somehow?? Felix is in MISERY why does her wife keep SHOWING UP AFTER THEY DIE- oh yeah and divorce anon may come back we're not sure, arise from the dead and all happens sometimes

some notes on stickynote

and their currently unnamed friend! So, I based stickynote's wings off of Albatross! They're shorter and thicker, mostly for the sake of fitting on the canvas, but generally that's what their design is supposed to be! This is primarily because Albatross are known for their long flights over sea, and absolutely fuckin MASSIVE wingspan. Also for some reason I was under the impression that albatross were... like... seagull sized? THEY ARE NOT. THEY ARE LIKE TODDLER SIZED. I AM AFRAID OF ALBATROSS.

Unnamed friend is no longer unnamed! Their name is Cedar :]

They've been friends for a very long time! Of course, Stickynote can't really go into the ocean (no more than normal humans at least, and it doesn't like the water) and Cedar dislikes being on land, but, they meet at the edge and hang out every once and a while. Usually every four or five years. Which is why it took so long for Cedar to pop up like "hey where the FUCK is it?"

Just a little note about exactly how dangerous both of them are. I think Stickynote has a higher capacity for being dangerous, at least on land, but Cedar has a higher willingness. Stickynote will choose to flee rather than fight almost every single time, or at least try to find another way out before jumping to violence. (with a sentient being that is, if a monster attacks them or someone close to them they'll kick its ass) Cedar will joyfully leap right into biting someone at the first chance he gets. They've got sharp teeth for a reason after all! And that's just how the underwater goes.

Cedar has fish friends! Like a couple Remora (suckerfish) that follow him around and sometimes hitch a ride, and a few manta rays, other types of fish too but you'd have to ask Froglord I don't actually know a lot about the ocean I'm afraid of it lol. He leaves them when he goes on land but the seabirds seem to like them so, they aren't completely alone :] Stickynote has bird friends of many types but it has a particular fondness towards corvids (especially bluejays and crows) and canaries (cinnamon and green canaries are their favorites) and It also befriends stray cats!

In a race on land, Stickynote runs faster, easy. In a race in the water, Stickynote will still be at the start by the time Cedar wins. In a race where Stickynote flies and Cedar swims? Well, that's a close tie. Though Stickynote can fly at top speed longer than Cedar can swim at top speed, and in general in a race of endurance,,, yeah no Stickynote cannot be beaten in long-distance travel.

if they had a radio station together Cedar would play exclusively indie songs no one knows about and jazz and Stickynote would play literally anything with a good beat to it and little to no brass. If it vibes Stickynote'll play it. If it's even remotely popular Cedar will refuse to play it.

Cedar is relatively short btw. He's like 5'2. Stickynote is 5'8. It will cower behind him anyways.
