WutBr Epilogue: Dance With the Devil

Well. That’s it. After 9 months plus it’s done, over, finito. 

I hope you’ve enjoyed our little story, and it seems pop-pop has some stories of his own! Ah, the old fornicator buck must have forgotten more than most rabbits experience in a lifetime. 

So DID you like it? If you did, please do consider showing your appreciation of what I do by buying me a coffee. I do plan to do something special for all those that donated and, since I won’t be shilling this anymore after this, then this is your LAST CHANCE to get in on that action! 

I certainly had a good time working on the comic. I plan to chat up writeanon and see if we can do like a postmortem thingy about the story, they’re all the rage right now. It’ll be interesting to see if we’ve learned anything. 

When I started on this I thought of it as “a little project” to cut my teeth on some proper comic design before a story I have planned for later. Of course it turned out to be not quite so “little” and for now I’m going to take a breather. Certainly before starting on anything so large, but I do have big ideas for the next story. However, if I ever hope to do it justice then it needs some SERIOUS preproduction planning. Watch this space!

“Happy Birthday, Grandpa!” cheered all 1,100 of Otto Hopps grandchildren and great-grandchildren at his recent birthday celebration last weekend.  “This is such a joyous occasion” remarked Bonnie Hopps, Otto’s youngest daughter, as she held two of his more recent grandchildren.  “Dad may not show it, but he is so thrilled to be surrounded by his loved ones.  We so appreciate everyone in the community for their well wishes.”

When asked what his secret was to a long and healthy life, he answered with a short and sweet, “Huh?” before falling asleep.

Good Gosh... there is SO MUCH here...

[1] In the Zooniverse, rabbits can get older than 100 years.

[2] Grandpa Hopps’ full name is Otto Hopps. The name “Otto” is a German given name. So, if Zootopia is “America”, Judy descended from an immigrant family.

[3] Otto Hopps had a total of 1′100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From those 1′100, more than a quarter are Stu & Bonnie’s children.

[4] BONNIE HOPPS IS OTTO’S YOUNGEST DAUGHTER. So, Stu adopted the surname of Hopps instead of the other way around... or they are an incestuous couple.

If Stu adopted the Hopps surname, then that means either:

[4a] Stu came from a very poor family, and adopted the revered name of Hopps to increase his social standing. Or,

[4b] The bunnies in Zootopia practices matrilineal naming.

I don’t think Stu is the kind of guy that concerns himself greatly about social standing, though. He struck me as an honest guy with genuine care & love for his family. So I’ll stick with [4b]

THAT MEANS

[5] If foxes practice patrilineal naming, there might be a bit of a disagreement on how the two lovemammals will name themselves after marriage.

HEADCANON TIME:

The reason why Judy & Nick used the family name of Wilde-Hopps after marriage was a compromise. An Allianzname, in Germanic tradition.

(But to prevent further disagreements, all their kits -- birthed or adopted -- carry the Allianzname Wilde-Hopps instead of just using Nick’s.)
