Carter gives his girlfriend a long look from across the table. Her eyes only on their son as he sleeps against her chest, before she rolls her eyes to look up at him. “What?” she asks him with a smile.
“Have you drank any of your water or just from the skinny latte? You and your need for coffee daily,” he gives a little chuckle, and she just rolls her eyes.
“Have you met my mother? Since nursing, I have limited it.”
He slides his hand across the table to her, and she takes it in her own. Gazing at the most steady person she could think of Carter was nothing but a gentleman. Patient, kind, loving towards her and Otto. Had she been in this position under different circumstances, she would love it more. But they were here. And they were getting there.
Carter slowly lifts her hand up to kiss along her knuckles, but he watches her eyes move up. Face going pale, and she stands frozen. “Baizen,” that voice slithers up his spine.
“Story, you and Otto go inside the cafe,” Story still unable to move, stares at one of her nightmares. Cringing at the sight of him.
“Story, tell V to call your mom.”
She finally focuses back on Carter, and she scrambles to get her and Otto into the cafe. Her free hand tapping on her chest, and it only infuriates Carter even more. Especially when Chase gives a little laugh, “Where you going princess?”
Carter shoves Chase up against the wall of the coffee shop, nostrils flaring snd his face turned up in a scowl. “You leave her alone.”
“Why does it matter anymore, Baizen? You got the girl. Got a bastard son with her but at least it’s not mine,” pure hatred runs through Carter, and he punches him in the face. “It was just a piece of ass. It’s nothing she didn’t want.”
“You fucking raped her. Sent me the goddamn video and one to her parents. And you got out with a slap on the wrist you privileged asshole.”
“It was a shame about Charles. Before him she offered me that pussy for free. She was dating Frank and still wanted me every fucking day. You telling me that’s rape?”
“If it wasn’t rape, why drug her? Why play mind games with her and rip that rose necklace off of her. Did you watch it, the video? She was fucking scared, and you took. It was never about sex between me and Story, you piece of shit. Men like you give the rest of us a bad name. You, Chuck, and Charles. How long is that money gonna keep the two of you out of trouble?” Chase’s eyes move rapidly over Carter’s. The laugh he releases isn’t quite as sure as before.
“I served my time.”
“Three months. She lives with what you did to her for the rest of her life.”
“Carter,” Ransom roughly says walking onto the side walk. “He’s not worth it. Your son and Story need you.”
Carter still presses Chase’s back firmly on the wall. A battle on what he should do running through his mind. Wanting to run to Story’s side and hold her, but wanting to beat Chase to a pulp.
“Better listen to your daddy, Baizen.”
“Carter!” he turns and looks at Ransom, and catches sight of Story, a steady stream of tears run down her cheeks, and her chest raw from her hand messing with it. Otto crying from her distress, and immediately he feels the pull to see her. Ransom nods his hand one time, and taps on his leg before Carter leaves.
“I was walking down the street, Mr. Drysdale.”
Ransom’s thick body stalks closer to Chase and he gives the pitiful little man a hard gaze before spitting on the pavement below. “You’re not welcome on this side of town.”
“Public street.”
“You’re gonna be served with a restraining order. You’re gonna stay away from my family. And you’re gonna wish that this show of power you thought you had never happened. You should have stayed in Ipswich. Boston is my territory. And if you ever talk about my daughter, grandson, or Carter ever again, well, you might not ever speak again.”
“That a threat?”
“It’s a promise.”

“Do you have to go?” Story pouts up at Carter as he smiles down at a giggling Otto.
“No, and I won’t go if you really don’t want me too.”
“You need to go?” he gives her a nod. “Fine. I can’t keep you locked up here forever. Will you miss us?”
Carter looks up at Story and rolls his eyes, “Every second that I’m away from you and him, I miss you. Marshall is staying at the estate while I’m gone. Blade is working with me though,” Story gives him her megawatt smile. “We’re trying princess. I’m not Blade’s favorite. But he’s putting forth the effort.”
Walking closer to her as she puts in a final shirt for him in his luggage, he cups her cheek. Story leans more into his embrace, “Are you okay?” she nods her head in response. “About the other day?”
“It took me by surprise. I knew they were out. Just…” her fingers tap at her chest, until Carter lays his hand over hers. “I want to forgive him.”
“You don’t have to.”
“Forgiveness is for me. Not him. Carter he was right,” Carter lets out an exasperated puff of air, looking away from her. “He was. I was…”
“Under the influence, and not in good mental health. He should have known that. He didn’t care. He took. That wasn’t your fault. I think I need to just stay here.”
“No. I’m fine. I went and seen Joshua, and I have another appointment with him tomorrow. I’m okay. I’m. Okay.”
“Story, I love you. And if you need me back at anytime, I will. This isn’t important, it’s you,” with a final kiss to her forehead, he hands over Otto, who reaches back towards Carter. Laying his head on Story’s chest he gives him a pout.
“I love you, Carter.”
She walks with him out to his car, and waves her hand. Staying outside until she sees his car completely disappear. As soon as he no longer sees her, he makes a phone call. “I’m gone. Do you have everything set up?”
“Yep. JJ has got Curtis ready. We got a bunch more dirt dug up on those two, so it’s not exactly lying. Dad said it’s time for an end to this.”
“I’d prefer if they were dead. You didn’t see her, Blade. She froze.”
“They’re going away for good this time. Chase and Chuck’s long line of illegal activities is coming to a halt.”

“This is a bad idea,” you look up at the prison, as your daughter hands you, Otto. “Story…”
“I’ve got to do this.”
“Why? You owe him, nothing.”
“I know. Marshall?” he follows her until, he can’t go any further, giving her hand a hard shake. “You’re calling him aren’t you?”
“I’ve already called him. You need him,” she gives his hand a squeeze before she’s lead back to meet with Frank.
Sitting down alone in front of the window, she sees him stiffen as he goes to sit in front of her. Slowly the both of them lift the receivers to their ears, “I didn’t get my day in court. There was a lot of other things.”
“I saw the news. You look good,” Story’s eyes try to focus on the man in front of her, but it’s more looking around his eyes. Never looking directly at him. “How’s life being a mother?”
“I don’t want to talk about my life.”
“It’s the life you deserve. With the man you were supposed to be with. It wasn’t me. I couldn’t give you that life.”
“I didn’t ask you to. I just wanted you to be a decent boyfriend.”
“Is that what we were?”
She plays with a piece of her hair, trying to avoid tapping on her chest, but fails. Frank watches her go from tapping to rubbing along her skin. “I was gonna move in with you.”
“Yeah, still fucking Chase, too. I wasn’t the only one that was toxic in our relationship.”
“You sold me. To pay off your debt. Had you have asked, I could have…my parents watched that.”
“It wasn’t ever intended for them. It was always for him. And they weren’t part of the deal. I didn’t know about them,” Story wipes the tears off her cheek pointlessly, and he just stares at her emotional self.
“I didn’t know about them. I promise you.”
“You still….why Carter?”
“I was told that he would do anything or pay any amount of money to keep you safe. I’m sorry. I am. I’m sorry, and no amount of times I say that is it going to take it away. I’m in here everyday with a constant reminder of what I did to you, and I’m sorry.”
“Ms. Drysdale,” a correctional officer pokes their head in. “I was told to let you know, the baby is crying, and hungry.”
“Turned out well for you at least.”
“I have to live with that night in my head. Having the man of my dreams by my side and a child doesn’t mean that everything is fine. I think about that night all the time. Get random flashbacks of it. I hope that the clearing of your debt was worth it. I hope that knowing I see a therapist weekly, and that my parents had to watch them do that to me, my mom watched that video with a family friend hoping to identify someone. I hope it was all worth it to you. But I forgive you.”
She stands to walk away, never giving him another look, but he watches her the entire time. Knowing exactly how wrong it was, feeling remorse, but unable to take any of it back.
Story grabs up Otto immediately, rocking him in her arms, while you gather his things. Keeping Marshall by her side, until she sees Carter standing there with his arms wide.
Walking to him, he wraps his arms around her and Otto. Wishing he could take it all away. Wishing that Frank paying for what he did, would make Story forget everything. But it never does.

“Mr. Bass, your under arrest for embezzlement, tax evasion, drug trafficking,” Curtis continues to read a long list of charges against Chuck, who is completely unbelieving of this.
“Blair, call my lawyer!”
He walks around Chuck, and tightly cuffs him, “If I comply, will you let me walk out, without cuffs?”
“Nope. Embarrassment is good for you.”

“Mr. Collins,” Curtis gives him a big smile, “You thought you could get away with hacking into the FBI system?” a few agents walk in, to assist in the arrest.
“What?”
“Along with another long list of charges. Mr. Collins, you’re under arrest. When you threaten families, you really need to make sure you know who you’re messing with.”
