(if you think Emma had a happy ending, please read to your own risk)
The show has ended like over a year ago, but this has been on my mind for a while so...
A lot of us like to complain about Emma's so called "happy ending" in season 6. How out of character it is, how the character has been ruined from what once had been... And else.
Well, I think that (outside of being bitter for SQ) I liked Emma's character development. No, not in that way. It shows us that people can get better AND worse through time. In Emma's case, we have the story of a woman that has always been alone, then she gets a family and a boyfriend, so she tries to do everything to satisfy them, even though it makes her lose herself.
It's sold to us as a Happy Ending™. I don't agree, clearly, but the story is believable and shows accurate development. Emma changed in the six seasons she's a main character, that doesn't mean it was for the good. Yet, the story of how a woman became a shadow of herself... That's a story that actually interests me.
