This series features various fairy tales characters that, due to a curse, were transported to our world, known in-universe as the Land Without Magic, without memory of who they truly are. Using flashbacks, the story is told partially in the modern world and partially in the characters' homelands.

A few Alice characters made their appearances during its run, with a couple of them recurring in the first 2 seasons. After the spin-off series, Will Scarlet appeared in the main cast of the primary show on season 4. Later, with the soft reboot of the series in its 7th (and last) season, Rose Reynolds joined the main cast as Alice/Tilly - a different version of the character from the one in the spin-off.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (2013-14 TV Series)

Despite being a fairy tale crossover like its mother show, as the title suggests, this spin-off series takes place primarily in Wonderland. It features a few guest appearances by side characters from OUAT, but mainly it uses new characters.

Starring Sophie Lowe as Alice, Michael Socha as Will Scarlet/Knave of Hearts, Peter Gadiot as Cyrus, Emma Rigby as the Red Queen, Naveen Andrews as Jafar

So to avoid spoilers from the main show (specifically regarding a Wonderland character), this series is better watched after OUAT's season 2

Personal Comments:

While not a favorite of mine, I think Disney's film is obligatory as not only a classic but also as a more direct adaption of the book (mind you, I haven't read the book). I haven't seen the 1999 movie so I can't comment on it.

My personal favorites are 2009 (Showcase/Syfy) and 2010 (Burton's).

I love OUAT but the Alice characters are not the focus. I do love what they did with them in the early seasons though! Sadly Will Scarlet is cool in OUATIW but his appearance in the main show wasn't really that interesting. Season 7 is also simply not as compelling, so...

OUATIW in general is below OUAT but I still liked it. Plus it's only 13 episodes, so I say give it a watch after OUAT season 2!

Sadly I'm not a fan of 2016's Through the Looking Glass. Watch it at your own risk.

People making up posts about the cameos in ouat is so funny to me because it's absolutely unnecessary. We've all seen the "lightning mcqueen revs engine" post or whatever, but there's literally no reason to make up ridiculous posts, because the truth of this show (especially including the ouatiw spinoff) is ridiculous enough as is.

Cinderella's stepsister fell in love with one of Robin Hood's merry men, but she became Wonderland's Red Queen, and he befriended Alice, who was dating the Genie. You have to remember, there's multiple timelines in play here, so this Genie is not to be confused with Genie who fell in love with the Evil Queen from Snow White, and who accidentally turned himself into her magic mirror and helped her spy on Maid Marian because the Evil Queen and Robin Hood (the same Robin Hood that Alice's friend was one of the Merry Men of) were in love— until Marian, who was presumed dead, was brought through a time portal. It wasn't actually Marian, though, it was the Evil Queen's older sister, The Wicked Witch of the West, who would later have a daughter with Robin Hood and named Robin Hood and who would fall in love with Alice (but a different Alice than before) who was the daughter of Captain Hook and Mother Gothel, who was pretending to be Rapunzel. Rapunzel, of course, is the stepmother of Cinderella, but not the same stepmother of Cinderella whose daughter became the Red Queen, this is a different timeline's Cinderella, who would later marry the adopted son of the Evil Queen. This adopted son of the Evil Queen was also the Evil Queen's step great grandson and also the stepson of Captain Hook (not the fake Captain Hook mentioned above, the real Captain Hook) who fell in love with the ex girlfriend of his former lover's son. And I cannot stress enough that that is just the very tip of the iceberg.
