OUDaily and Journalism Standards
The people who run the OU Daily are journalistically stunted. That isn't an issue of 1st amendment rights, but professionalism. I wouldn't hire a single one. What's the point of the story? To try to make someone look bad?
So Jack White AND COMPANY got paid 80 grand after expenses. So what? It was a reported sellout, so it was money well spent. And after the math, they only lost like a grand on tickets. (Concessions DID make them a profit after a little research.)
I'd like to know how much money the OUDaily is bringing into the university. It's a free press.....and I doubt they're bringing in over a hundred thousand dollars of taxable revenue, which I'm sure the university sees, because they are a public institution that's helped funded by the state.
These people who work there seem angry and wanting to tear someone down to build themselves up. It back fired.
Now, if Jack White is a known puppy-kicker and OUDaily was posting this stuff to discourage people from attending his show, ok then. But he's not (I hope.). No, to my knowledge, and theirs, White has done nothing worth shaming him over, except coming to their small ass town in the first place.
What's next? Trying to shame the OU football team for MAKING the university relevant?
Somebody asked in the OUDaily comments to see the pay of all the teachers, who are paid by their tax dollars. I wonder if they'd be more than willing to have teachers salaries openly mocked for those to see. After all, it's a public institution! (...i realize you may not get that zinger; it was something they kept alluding to in their "Why we're allowed to be unprofessional jackasses" letter)
Frankly, go fuck yourself OUDaily. I hope your editor loses their job. I hope you all get ZERO work in real news outlets. So have fun working for Faux News! Sorry, Fox News.
