thank you for the question and the well-wishes. I hope you had a festive season as well! I am so sorry that it took me so long to answer this!
“Sophie and La Fayette” is some sort of time-travel story where a La Fayette in his early sixties suddenly finds himself stranded in the 21st century. He gets picked up by Sophie, a student in her early twenties and La Fayette-enthusiast. They soon become two unlikely flat-mates and have to navigate the troubles and turmoil of this century.
Schon hatte Sophie ungefragt die Kaffeekanne über den Tisch hinweg in La Fayettes Richtung geschoben, da stutze sie plötzlich. „Was ist los mit dir?“, wollte sie misstrauisch wissen.
„Nichts“, antwortete La Fayette kurz angebunden und nahm einen demonstrativen Schluck aus seiner Kaffeetasse.
„Okay, es ist eine zeitlose Wahrheit, dass jede Person, die solch eine Frage mit „nichts“ beantwortet, eigentlich sehr wohl etwas hat, und nur nicht darüber sprechen möchte.“
„Wenn du bereits selbst festgestellt hast, dass ich über diese Thematik nicht weiter sprechen möchte, warum lässt du das Thema dann nicht freundlicherweise ruhen?“, fragte La Fayette säuerlich und Sophie konnte sich ihre prompte Reaktion nicht verkneifen.
„Weil ich dir gegenüber eine Führsorgepflicht habe“, erklärte die gerade 23-jährige dem 65-jährigen. La Fayette zog die Augenbrauen amüsiert in die Höhe, verzog ansonsten aber keine Mine. „Schön, wenn du es unbedingt wissen musst – ich habe gestern Abend diesen Film geschaut – Aristocats.“

Sophie gave the coffeepot a push towards La Fayette before eyeing him suspiciously. “What is the matter?”
“Nothing”, he replied, a little bit too fast and took a demonstrative sip from his coffee.
“Okay, wow. It is an absolute timeless truth that every person who answers with ‘nothing’ actually has something that is bothering them, they just do not want to talk about it.”
“Since you correctly concluded that I have no desire to discuss the matter, would you kindly let it rest?”, asked La Fayette sourly and Sophie could not help but let her tongue slip. “Because it is my duty to take of you!”, the 23-year-old explained the 65-year-old. La Fayette raised one brown in amusement but kept his expression otherwise neutral.
La Fayette sighted. “Fine, if you really need to know it, I watched a movie yesterday – Aristocats.”
