Pagsanjan Road Food Trip:A Celebration of Love for 1460 Days:)
It’s that time of the year again when everything was perfect and the love longs seemed to be playing everywhere. It’s a celebration of love at 1460 days (do the math…ahaha). Mienne and I decided to have a road trip and stay in a place totally opposite of Manila to relax and unwind. That's when I stumbled upon Villa Socorro online. Big thanks to my internet surfing skills, I saw the place to be!
The day started with a yummy breakfast in Mcdonalds. Oh yeah, I ate there in purpose to avail that nice coke glass. And yes, I am a coke stuff addict. I enjoyed my 1st coke class – a green one for mienne. We then went to HM Bus Station in Cubao and rode the bus to Sta. Cruz. It was a short and fun ride. It’s nice to see the different towns of Laguna we never saw before. It was a joy ride road trip. At the Sta. Cruz station, our best girl who happened to be in Laguna too picked us up with her uncle and we went to the wet market. We bought pork, big fresh tilapia and other cooking stuff. I personally enjoyed the clean market and the jumping tilapias. We had other to food ready to eat and to be cooked too in our bags already.
Upon arriving at Villa Socorro, I was totally in awe. Just like what I’ve imagined – a haciendera life for us…ahaha! It was very spacious, lots of greens, chickens walking, cool and fresh air – it was definitely a place to be. It served as our sanctuary for 3 days and 2 nights and guess what, we were the only ones there aside from the owners and the employees. I loved everything in that place. We started preparing and cooking our lunch – inihaw na baboy, inihaw na tilapia and a lot of rice. After eating, we decided to stroll around. There were monkeys and wild boars. It's my 1st time to see wild boars and they were creepy! Then we strolled the forest. Yes, they have forest and you can hear the chirping of the birds –lovely experience. At the end of the forest path, there’s a river where you can see the locals and a few boats. It was a spectacular view. The water was cold as we dipped our feet. We had our sabanana chips (Villa Socorro’s product) in one of the kubo-like tambayan during merienda. At dinner, we had garlic fried chicken and spicy chicken adobo with baby potatoes. We made sure we personally cooked our food. After dinner, we had videoke and had fun the rest of the night.
The 2nd day started with authentic Lucban Longganisa for breakfast. Oh wow, it’s yummy, our first time to try. For lunch, we prepared and cooked spicy tuna spaghetti with a lot of mushrooms and toasted our loaf bread. We explored the rest of Villa Socorro then went out to explore the city after lunch. We visited the church, went to the nearby grocery, ate a lot of isaw, watched the sunset and stared at the nice arc of Pagsanjan border. At dinner, we ate the rest of the yummy spag and had a few drinks after. We gazed at the star-filled sky and admired the beauty of the place.
The 3rd and last day, we enjoyed the taste of Villa Socorro’s special espasol. I thought it was suman because it’s covered in banana leaves. We roamed around the greens again after eating and packed our things. It was sad that we needed to go but we’ll always treasure the memories. The celebration of love continued even after the lovely stay anyway.
I’m not sure if this is worth calling a road food trip but for me, it is! We discovered and went to new places by simply commuting and walking (which actually was fun since we don’t know anything about the place, the town), we tasted new food and we prepared and cooked everything that we ate except for breakfast. Everything was perfect. It's a celebration of life and love and we were the happiest people at that time:) Here’s the link of our pictures, enjoy!
