Sky this evening, catchfly, white deadnettle, Swollen-thighed beetle on a buttercup and Woodpigeon at Lakeside Country Park at lunch time and Starlings in the garden today 19/05/2026 and Fallow Deer on a walk from Standing Hat in the New Forest at the weekend 17/05/2026.

Other highlights today included Blue Tit in the garden and Great Tit at Lakeside, Canada Goose and goslings, an empis livida fly, my first meadow making yellow rattle of the year with a lot in flower which is great to see always and hogweed. Other highlights across different locations over the past few days have included a delicate Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterfly in a brief splash of Sunday sun another key butterfly species to see this year, another top bird this year Garganey, Dunlins, Great Spotted Woodpeckers with an adult seen and chirping chicks heard in a nest at Lakeside, Great Crested Grebe and chicks, hairy tare and Cetti's Warbler heard.
