DEAN WINCHESTER
From Supernatural
Requested by hammerduke & i-am-ted-mosby & fandombandom & flaming-assbutts & flossbucket & conquistagoratheexplora & potatothief & angelisms & elliottreview
Personality Type: ESFP
Dominate Function: Extroverted Sensing
Dean is alert and extremely reactive to the moment. He draws on the details of a situation at hand, rather then having a large amount of stored knowledge about specific creatures. This makes Dean resourceful, present in the world, and helps him cope by putting bad experiences behind him. He displays his love for sensory activity, by liking to drive fast, listen to music, brawl, pick up women and make jokes about the things he encounters. He has a get-stuff-done attitude that can spur him to act without developing a plan or reflecting on the consequences first.
Auxiliary Function: Introverted Feeling
Dean Winchester is an extremely value-oriented person. He lives by his strong internal code. Although Dean can have difficulty expressing his emotions, he can communicate his values easily to other people, even imposing or insisting on them if he needs to. He is much more in tune to how he feels about certain situations and his own sense of right or wrong than how other people react emotionally or how his actions might upset others. He has an extremely strong sentimental streak, carrying things with him, and even developing his taste around things he associates with strong values. His father taught him everything from be loyal to his family and to respect classic rock. Crossing either line is next to blasphemy in Dean’s eyes.
Tertiary Function: Extroverted Thinking
When dealing with organizing logic, Dean is more concerned with controlling and executing than he is with having a deep understanding of a subject. He operates on a need to know basis, just wanting to know how to kill something and what the plan is. He organizes the world around him, categorizing and labeling the world around him. He uses this to separate himself from monsters, as well as identify what he is facing and how to deal with it. This is a function that Dean grows into, at first he struggles with operating with logical, organized standards, but through experience he comes to learn how to use this function more effectively.
Inferior Function: Introverted Intuition
Dean has trouble with projecting or predicting future consequences, and it tends to be his Achilles heel. He tends to tie ideas together, or find ways for all ideas to lead back to the same source, but for Dean this can manifest as obsessive thoughts and actions, and often occurs when he is the most stressed, since this is his least developed function. He doesn’t consider consequences until much later, for instance when he makes a demon deal, or regularly acts rashly.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Dean runs on the fuel of loyalty, hard work, and duty. He is extremely devoted to his family, and is loyal to them because he believes it is his duty to be there, particularly for Sam. He follows orders from his father without question, and is not afraid of doing what needs to be done. Dean puts his duty as a Hunter before his personal ambitions, his curiosity, and occasionally, the greater good.
