The first time Lincoln sees her, she’s in his shop with her back to him, headphones over her ears, head thrown back and with arms reaching for the ceiling, she’s dancing to the music no one but she can hear. And she’s completely uncaring of the stares she’s gathering from the rest of his customers.
Almost against his will, he moves across the room and closer to her. She must have turned the music pretty loud, because now he can actually hear the lyrics.
‘I must become… the lion hearted g i r l , ready for a f i g h t …’
He almost smiles at her taste while some instinct tells him the song fits the young woman perfectly.
He’ll learn that he was right about that during their first date, when her brother storms in the middle of it, to try and fail to take her home. But right now all he really knows is that he wants to know her better, so once the song ends, he taps her lightly on the shoulder and when she faces him, removing the headphones as she turns, he just goes with his first urge.
“Lincoln.” her face turns confused so he elaborates “My name is Lincoln.”
And then she smiles and he knows he’s lost already. He’s right.
