Flight: Arrived/Delayed/On Time
People are sometimes baffled when I tell them how much I love airports, and it sometimes becomes this long explanation. But what it comes down to is that I love to think of everyone's own individual story. Where are they going? Why are they going there? How long have they been away from home? Everyone has their own unique reasons for being at an airport and flying to their destinations. Sometimes it might be just because there is no other way to reach the destination, and in other cases its about convenience.
You can see people from all walks of life at airports. A single mother traveling with her teething baby, a business man ready to get home after an extended trip, an adventurer whose home is the road and open skies, a college kid going to visit her family for Easter.. The people you see are all so different.
Flights are a lot like life. Sometimes it takes a connecting flight to end up at your destination. Other times the flight is delayed and you have to change your plans. And sometimes you find yourself running and dodging obstacles just to reach the gate before it closes. And we all have different destinations, places we want to end up in life. C.E.O of a big company, a stay-at-home parent, a missionary, a pop star, etc. The ways we get there are all different too. Different connections, different delays and early departures.
I still don't really know what my destination is. That use to scare me. I also use to hate all my delays and cancellations. But I have realized that it doesn't matter what my destination is, because I will make it there, even with the delays and layovers. And the delays? I have crossed paths with some of the most amazing people because of the 'delays'. If I get to worked up or stressed about where I am going with my life, I often times forget that God has a plan.
21 A man may have many plans in his heart.
But the Lord’s purpose wins out in the end. -Proverbs 19:21 (NIRV)
We may plan for delays and layovers, but sometimes even our best laid plans crumble. And I have realized over time that these crumbling plans are okay, and they happen for a reason. We may not notice it at first, but a lot of times our delays lead to prosperity and joy later. They may be frustrating in the moment, but something will always come out of them, even if we don't know it. We all have our destinations, and we will get there... We just have to have a little patience and faith.
So send me on my way... The skies might be rough, there may be delays, layovers, and cancellations, but my seat back table is in the upright and locked position and I'm ready to fly.
