The head of the studentsâ union at one of the nationâs top universities has said breaking away from the National Union of Students (NUS) would âonly do us harm.â Becky Howe, president of the Oxford University Studentsâ Union (OUSU), has told the Independent she will be supporting the cause for the OUSU to remain affiliated with the national student campaigner.
From now until the Oxford referendum on whether to stay in the NUS, here we will be posting all the reasons, arguments, counterarguments, articles, essays and comments explaining why supporters of our campaign want to stay in the NUS.Â
To start with, our student union president Becky Howe has said that despite the urgent need for greater scrutiny of anti semitism and other prejudiced sentiment in the NUS, we need to stay in. The NUS is an invaluable resource for fighting for the needs and welfare of students in Oxford. More from Becky and the rest of the campaign on this soon!
