Goth-y dark British postpunk.

Nick Blinko of Rudimentary Peni was in the early lineup of this band; he played the "syndrum" (an old synth drum machine that makes the crashing drum noise style heard in Joy Division's "She's Lost Control") and wore a military jacket when they played live, according to S-Haters guitarist Kevin O'Brien. The S-Haters then went onto the Rudimentary Peni-owned record label, Outer Himalayan, and later onto Midnight Records. They began in 1976 (!) and turned into The Underlings by the late 80s.
