I just LOVE how the same actor plays Brian Fraser in 7x09 as waaaay back in 1x06!!

I loved so dearly how we "met" Brian in that episode, way back when I first saw it in 2014. Because in Book 1 we only hear Jamie tell the story, we don't actually "see" Brian in real time.

It still floors me every time.

And seeing it in 7x09 reminded me that I'm soooo excited to see Brian and Ellen's story in "Blood of my Blood"!!

Kudos to Nell Hudson's performance in 7x09. She really did an excellent job. She could have played Laoghaire - and her argument with Jamie - as being just shrill and annoying and vindictive.

But instead you see she's just sad and bitter. Maybe she's even a bit reflective.

Sam Heughan just lets her do her thing, and honestly you almost feel sorry for Laoghaire. Almost.

Murtagh was so, so right. Laoghaire in this scene is just around 50, and she's definitely still a girl.

I also love how Laoghaire just flat out said to Jamie - I knew you were in love with the Sassenach hoor from like day 1. And Jamie was like - yup, you got me, guilty as charged.

In 7x09, I didn't like Roger's voiceover at first.

It felt too convenient. Hokey.

But as the episode progressed, it really grew on me.

Because it's both a clever way to advance the plot...

and a clever way to poke fun at the absolute ridiculousness of the storyline (and Diana's source material), ping-ponging thru time...
