John and William and that scene.....
I know the show is on a whole different trajectory now and I imagine they had William walk in on John snd Percy to move the whole Percy tells him about John’s kidnapping and the boat scene where John tells him to help him if he still loves him and all that…
But considering in the books William is introduced to the possibility of John being gay by Richardson whom he doesn’t believe and thats a conversation he and John never had before John got kidnapped, I always hoped that he would learn about it for sure during his search for John ( probably learning about why exactly Richardson kidnapped John) and have time to come to terms with it/ work through his homophobia before they finally found John, so exact this doesn’t happen.
Imagine if it was a something Jamie and William could work through together because no matter how he felt about John I think watching William talk like that about the man who raised and love him would be a whole other thing. Specially since even after their fallout he calls William “our son”. Which would be the nudge to make him reexamine his own behaviour.
imagine Claire and Brianna, on learning that William was struggling with this sat him down, set him straight and let him see their perspective.
They don't have a lot of time left in the season of course. So they are blowing things up for a faster cumulation. And we wont see months pass between John getting kidnapped and rescued.
And I doubt this is the direction the books will take either.
But imagine……….
