Delete an address from the Outlook 2010 autocomplete list
Outlook remembers every address you have typed in a To:, Cc: or Bcc: field. This is good: when you start keying in a name or address, Outlook automatically suggests the contact in its entirety.
Unfortunately, Outlook remembers the mistyped and old as well as the correct and current — and suggests it indiscriminately. Fortunately, getting rid of entries you no longer want to appear in the auto-complete list is easy.
In an organisation, if there have been internal changes to the email system (such as the move from mary@ to [email protected] for ‘Admin’ in the autocomplete list) you might receive a bounce message when sending email to the newly changed address. What we need to do is delete any outlook auto-complete entries listed under ‘Admin` and afterwards, enter the new address in fresh ([email protected]).
To remove a name or email address from Outlook’s auto-complete list:
Create a new email message in Outlook.
Start typing the name or address you want to remove.
Use the down arrow key or the mouse to highlight the entry you’d like to remove.
Press Del or click on the ‘x’ next to the entry.
