//Just a lil WIP in what I have put together for Genesis' FF XVI verse Born as a noble in the Iron Kingdom, Genesis was raised with privilege, education, and opportunity. As true power lay within the Crystalline Orthodox faith, he studied to become a part of the clergy and defender of the Mothercrystal, carrying out High Priest' Imreann's will wheresoever it led. Acting as a one-man crusade, Genesis' primary objective was to infiltrate other countries, subdue and kidnap Bearers, and offer them as human sacrifice. This all changed when Genesis himself awoke with the affinity for that very same blasphemous magick he had culled many for. At first, he thought it was a test of his resolve from the Mothercrystal itself, or perhaps a punishment for letting a pitiful Bearer or two free due to human sympathy. Determined to prove himself, Genesis kept his blasphemy a secret. His crusades from then on became all the more violent, spiraling nigh out of control in his desperation to cure himself. When High Priest Imreann decided to utilize Jill Warrick as a weapon, Genesis believed it to be safe to confess his blasphemy, but swearing to use his blasphemous power against the enemies of the Iron Kingdom. Unfortunately, High Priest Imreann's hypocrisy did not extend to a lowly Bearer of fire. Facing imminent execution, Genesis fled to the mainland. Faith shattered, purpose lost, and betrayed by the Mothercrystal, Genesis was forced to reckon with the reality of his actions, of the lives he had ruined.

// short headcanon and a placeholder for expansion later, but I forgot how displeased I was with the whole execution of Genesis's weird theme with 'SOLDIER honor'. Apparently this is cited as the reason why he doesn't participate in the rebellion at Deepground.

This is just one of many places the narrative for Genesis fails to make cohesive sense. How is it even tangentially related?

No matter, I can see Genesis declining to participate in the liberation of Deepground, but his reasons for doing so I am taking the creative liberty in saying he was either a) emotionally exhausted and unable to work himself up to immediately thrust himself into a whole new conflict, b) was not physically able at the time, but that proud motherfucker would give some snarky bullshit reason or c) perhaps the conversation got interrupted by conflict with the restrictiors.

I have a cute other hc that details Genesis spending time as a prisoner whose body and cells were used for further modification on subjects in Deepground. At some point, verse dependent, he is able to escape at which that point seals himself to recover.

// Alright everyone! I did some major blog cleanup, fixed tags and overall maintenance. Things should be easier to find and my pinned Nuts and Bolts has been expanded a bit to make navigation easier to access. I also must say-- Looking back at old threads and writing has certainly made me nostalgic as well as appreciate how vastly different the Genesis that I write now is. Thanks everyone for sticking with me and hopefully I can offer this delightful tragic blorbo to you. SO! Here is a little starter call. Like this and I will write up a something! Or if you comment 'meme' I will go through your meme tag and send you something :)

// HC Time! Genesis speaks fluent Wutain and a variety of local dialects. Sure, it has its practical use, but his personal motivation was to be able to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies and conjure spells in their own language to demoralize them.  He is kind of an asshole.  He is the kind of person that will heckle retreating enemy lines as he hunts them down and dispatches them. In their own tongue.  He is additionally familiar with much of their folklore and their versions of the ‘boogieman’ and other frightening stories. He will even go as far as to partially replicating various aspects just to terrify his opponents.  For instance, if there was folklore of a woman who committed suicide by slitting her throat and had a calling card of scratching on the wood as she approached, he absolutely would trace his rapier against the walls and what not just for that added effect.  Yes. He is extra and a menace.
