Telling an abuse survivor that abuse in fiction is "just a thing" and in no way problematic is so fucked up I can't

tbh the worst part of fandoms is not the ships, but the shippers, lbh Most of them tend to be in this mindset that everything they want can be true while all their ships can be healthy and non-problematic even if it that is a complete contradiction.

Like, people that ship Gabe and Jesse claim it’s no problematic...but then also want Gabe to have been a very active Commander of Blackwatch who knew all of his subordinates (and especially Jesse) very well and all on his own personally saved Jesse from going to jail, and mentored Jesse, and all this other stuff...and it’s like...there’s nothing about that that supports the idea of a non-problematic ship.

Reyes in that scenario is both Jesse’s savior and jailer, and a 17 year old, no matter what sort of life they lived, will have certain vulnerabilities that a much older, black ops trained adult could (intentionally or not) easily take advantage of. Especially if he’s training Jesse, seeing him frequently, etc.

People who ship Shim.ada c.est are often the same, insisting there’s nothing at all problematic with two obviously abused brothers (and one of them an abuser of the other) sleeping together -.-

I’m fine with most ships (though I’m fucking drawing the line at 60+ year olds with teenagers ffs fandom), but that’s if people admit said ships are problematic as fuck. When they try to paint them as the same as every other ship it’s completely bullshit.

The fandom's obsession with giving Jack a bunch of freckles is really weird to me. Like I get it for book characters and stuff, or if there was a character whose face we never really saw, but we have a ton of looks at Jack's face and he clearly is not covered in freckles? It's sort of in the same vein as the weird thing where people draw him or Reyes or McCree as shorter than each other and it's like...No? They're the same height? Even allowing for shoe differences it would just be an inch or two?
