Oval Swimming Pool Design
Ovoid, elliptical, or Oval swimming pools is just a fancy word for saying the pool has curves around the corners instead of the traditional ninety-degree angle. The oval shape can complement just about any residential home environment. Here at Clarity Pool Service, when we design a custom swimming pool, we’ll start by having you decide which of the primary pool shapes you prefer. Once we’ve established a basic shape, then our swimming pool design specialist will go to work, allowing the concept to evolve during the Clarity Swimming Pool Design Process. We tend to take to take the basic pool shape concept and customize it to suit your unique outdoor living environment.
Oval swimming pool shapes started to become popular in California in the 1930s amongst Hollywood high-society. Pool builder Philip Ilsley was well known as the pool-builder-of-the-stars, he was the go-to contractor of some of the biggest names in the film industry back then. His innovation and overall pool building techniques were revolutionary and would change the industry forever. Isley also invented a method of rounding and reinforcing the bottom of the pools he built with wire mesh, and then using a pneumatic hose to pour the concrete; he was able to prep and build a private swimming pool in an unprecedented six days. Similar techniques are still in use today, and it can be said that those methods came from Philip Isley.
