Taxes
I’ve never been particularly good with taxes, in fact for the longest time I relied on my parent’s accountant to do my taxes and never questioned him.
That was a fucking awful mistake... After getting together with my partner I discovered to my delight that they LOVE doing taxes (they’re weird, don’t judge) and took one look at my taxes after I gave them a shrug and went I dunno how to tax and almost lost it. Apparently my accountant was not doing their due diligence and far over charging me.
As I am overly cautious with money, I’ve asked them to help me fill out all my tax forms and helped me to purposely over pay to ensure that I’m never caught empty handed and in the red by the IRS. Now with my partner doing my taxes I save about $150 a year for 2 hours worth of work, all I do is walk through the final page, review the work and click the “I Confirm” button.

ADDITIONAL LEARNING NOTE: taxes are great, they fix roads, send kids to school, clean up snow in the winter, rebuild after storms, bring new books to libraries, and gives food and shelter to the most vulnerable. Paying taxes is the luxury of working folks as it’s a fool proof way you care about your fellow Americans and are a good citizens.
