The care is there, and yes I miss you. But going no contact was the best choice for me. Because you were never going to change with what you don’t see you do wrong. Parent or not, I won’t sacrifice my mental health to conform to your comfort. I can’t make you understand, have empathy, or be open to a different perspective because I’ve tried all my life and it was always about you at the end of the day. My pain was too uncomfortable for you, so how could I stay when validating me was too hard on your pride for your own daughter. You only wanted me at my best but didn’t know how to be there at my lowest. I can’t fix your mental health but I can work on my own to give myself the best version of me. And that makes me the villain in many people’s story, but you didn’t watch in the background the nonsense he would do and say.
