I dunno if this makes me seem selfish or anything, but I would really appreciate a continuation of that one you did where Odin and Selena found Laslow's corpse. Maybe Ophelia tries to help Soleil get over her parent's deaths? I dunno, just a suggestion.
YES THIS MAKES YOU VERY SELFISH! What… what the heck… Well, you asked, so be ready for some intense feels!
Part 1 - Part 2
A family offour.
Mother, father and two girls. They lived in the outskirts of a town at the Ylissean border with Ferox, the mildlycold weather making the young women feel more at home due to reminding them ofthe nohrian climate.
They woresimple clothing and survived doing odd-jobs around the town, one of the girlseven had an herb garden so she could sell some to the villagers and do ‘miraculousconcoctions’ as she called them, with the rest.
The othergirl, however, was mostly kept out of strangers’ eyes. She roamed in the openfields like a wild cat, worrying her sister to an early grave every single day.
“As I said,Soleiiil!” Ophelia huffed, bending over to catch her breath. “You. Can’t. Stay.So. Far. From. My. Sights!” She repeated for the nth time, pointing her indexto the other young woman.
Theblue-haired girl’s clothes were dirty from playing in the mud and her feet hadno shoes for she ran at the most of her speed through the grassy plains, thecold air making her feel more alive than ever. She cowered, but flashed a bigsmile as she crossed her hands behind her back. “Aah-da! Dabuh!” She smiled, touching Ophelia’s face so as to make her smile too.
C’mon, turn that frown upside down! Was what the red-haired girl couldhear in her mind, her chin trembling as she forced the corners of her mouth up.“D-don’t try to smile your way out of this, young lady!” She breathed in,trying to focus her energy on scolding lest she got overwhelmed with feelings.
It’s beenover one year, but the memories were still so fresh inside her mind. At leastshe was glad that her friend, now her sister, had none.
On thatday, when both young women followed Odin and Selena to that terrible, terribleplace, Ophelia watched as the friend she knew as Soleil died.
And as herlittle sister Soleil was born.
“F-father…?”An inhuman sound, approaching the likeness of a voice, left Soleil’s throat asher knees gave out a few paces away from her mother’s horse. “M-mom?” Her headmoved as her eyes strappled themselves on the javelin piercing Peri’s body.
Ophelia fellon her behind, both hands over her mouth as her eyes immediately drew tears.Owain and Severa quickly shot up from their mourning positions to run towardsthe young women.
Before theycould, a scream louder than Severa had done previously hurt Soleil’s throat. “Dad!!Hey, Dad! That’s a joke, right? Dad?” Soleil crawled, suddenly forgetting howto walk, the dried blood staining her clothes and hands. She reached Inigo’spale body and shook it.
It was sohard. Didn’t even seem like it was a person at all.
“Dad?!Ahaha! I see, that’s not you, right?” She gave a nervous laugh, tears streamingdown her eyes at an alarming pace, drenching Peri’s face. “I mean, you- you’renot smiling!” She carefully looked at the colorless and bony skin. “You’re notfrowning either,” she huffed, the smile disappearing from her lips, “so I can’teven say ‘turn that f-frown upside down!’ or anything… hey, Dad?”
“S-Soleil…”Ophelia touched her friend’s shoulder, one hand still over her nose – the putridsmell was overwhelming. Had it not been for making sure her friend was okay, she might’ve had passed out due to the shock.
“AND MOM!!”Soleil yelled, making Ophelia flinch and retract her hand. “Mom, c’mon, haha…haha, it’s not funny to bathe in your own blood, c’mon…” She tried to clean astain over Peri’s grey face, but the blood had long since dried. It wouldn’tleave no matter how many times Soleil scrubbed. “M-mom, as I said… D-dad… thisisn’t funny…”
Opheliathrew her arms around Soleil’s shoulder, bringing the mercenary’s face to herchest.
The suddenwarmth contrasted to how cold her parents’ bodies felt, making realization hither faster than just staring at their lifeless expressions.
Soleil’sbody shook with a strained laughter which turned into a scream.
Then,silence.
The nexttime she woke up, in a foreign land, she had lost her words.
“Dahh!Bubuh!” She communicated much like a child on their first years, through facialexpressions and inarticulate sounds.
Her mind hadregressed to a happier time; of when she had both of her parents with herinside her DeepRealm, though the memories of those days were also lostalongside her speech.
Owain andSevera’s revelation about their past to Ophelia didn’t have the grandiosity theformer wanted nor the heavy explanation the latter yearned. It was a quick taleabout two wars better forgotten and a secret they couldn’t reveal lest theydisappeared.
Bothfuture-remnants had lost everything in a single week: Their promise, theirfriend; the kingdom they had made home. The only thing keeping them fromsharing Soleil’s fate was their daughter, Ophelia. She suffered doubly for heruncle’s loss as well as for her best friend’s condition.
They neededto be strong.
And theonly place that they could do so would be on the kingdom that’s accepted themand embraced them as its own child. They needed to go back to Ylisstol anddeliver the news.
And cry intheir mothers arms.
“TodayGranny Olivia is visiting, so you better behave, okay?” Ophelia stroked Soleil’shead as the blue-haired girl sat on the field and started to pull some weed outof the ground. The red-haired girl crouched, adjusting her sister’s headband –a replica of the one Olivia wore in the past, sewn by Inigo himself when Soleilwas born. “She’ll bring someone special today, I heard.”
Soleillifted her gaze from the hole she was digging, her hands covered in mud. “Bubuh?”She tilted her head to the side. Who?She asked.
Ophelia’seyes shone with tears.
They weren’tsure if bringing those two together was a nice idea, but they had to try.Laslow’s death had been a bleeding wound for the past year, and they allwitnessed how Soleil’s state regressed instead of progressing: sometimes shewould need help getting to the latrines – other times she didn’t manage to holdit in at all. Her body was falling apart since her mind could not hold itselfon its own anymore.
Once againOphelia’s lips trembled and she sniffled, trying to shoo away the tears. “Hisname is Inigo, I heard.”
Just wondering... Got any Fire Emblem Awakening ships without Robin, Lucina, Chrom, or even Morgan in it...? :0
Owain x Severa, Henry x Olivia, Cordelia x Stahl, Gerome x Cynthia, and Lissa x Lon'qu are probably my five favorite ships not involving Robin, Lucina, Chrom, or Morgan
