I get really jazzed when I get to identify owl species. I just came across a post on facebook that had an owl with pretty much no context and “please identify” and I was like fuck yeah my time to shine.
It was a Spotted Eagle Owl, for the record, Bubo africanus. And I got to explain why it wasn’t a Cape Eagle Owl (markings/coloration). 😆
