Ragnar was a miserable man. How had it come to this? Put to auction like a slave ... no, not like a slave. He was a slave. Ragnar Lothbrook. Once a farmer, a husband, a father, a warrior, a king and now he was merely a slave. The humiliation was complete. Death would have been sweeter than this ignoble existence. He looked out at those in the hall, as if daring them to purchase him.
