Hard. In many ways, it's the easiest thing for him to feel and even acknowledge inside himself. However, saying it to someone directly or out loud is terrifying. Fear of rejection, of losing the person he's in love with because he spoke up, or turning something beautiful into something uncomfortable and never getting it back. Or saying it wrong, somehow. He's so rarely been close enough to someone to want to say it, despite how attached he gets. So that makes it even rarer, even scarier.

The tears haven’t stopped falling in a METAPHORICAL SENSE. Her eyes flash every so often with pain that waxes and wanes in soft and sudden uproarious crescendo for a split second. Then, it returns to normal. Sorrow mixed with anger at the pit of her stomach doesn’t allow silver eyes to meet her father’s. She takes a deep, steadying breath.

“I know it will.”

The words don’t reach. They, much like HER, seem tired. Overused. However, she HAS to keep pushing forward. She HAS to persevere. Maybe she doesn’t KNOW it will -- but she MUST BELIEVE IT WILL. Otherwise, what does she have left?
