Former account hacked

Hello all. A week ago my former science blog oxygenmagnesium-science and my personal account were hacked and deleted from my account. It was incredibly disappointing, especially given the time put into those blogs, but I have started a new science blog to replace the old one and hope it will get as much of a subscription.

New fabric could help you stay cool:

This article is on the topic of a new technological development with respect to fabric. This new material made of bubble-filled polyethylene (plastic) with nanopores lets body heat in the form of infra-red radiation escape. This could lead to many other benefits such as decreased energy consumption from AC and also a new use of unwanted plastic products.

DOG LOVERS! Canine brains separate meaning of speech from tone.

New research has suggested that dogs process the tone and meaning of words in a similar manner to humans.

Do you want to know what epigenetics is? Sometimes how our cells act is not due to what’s in our genes, but what’s on them.

Certain environmental factors can alter when and which genes are expressed without altering out DNA sequence. These changes are called epigenetic which  means “above genes.”

A link between diversity of gut bacteria and the amount of body fat has been uncovered.

A greater diversity of bacteria in faeces has been shown by researchers at King’s College London to be linked to generally lower levels of visceral fat (fat housed in the abdominal cavity.)

This concept of microbiota in the intestinal tract and colon contributing to metabolism has also been demonstrated with mice. After having a faecal transplant, obese mice housing a certain bacterial community from leaner mice were shown to have lost weight.  See the article here.
